Looking good in centre mid. Thought he was very disciplined against us.  Capello could do worse than putting him in there.

he`s too much of a goal threat to be wasted in midfield

I still think he's a threat even from midfield

The thing is he's not a great centre mid and England have no strikers that you could put anywhere near the "class" category (except Rooney).

I dunno about that.  He's only "not a great centre mid" because that hasnt been his position historically.

He has the ability to use a bit of skill and beat players which is something we've lacked since, well lets be honest, Gazza.  I know people are looking at Jack Wilshere to fill that role but I personally am yet to be convinced - he's good but I dont think he's excellent (time could well prove me wrong).

For england, I think that Crouch and Defoe look good together, and Rooney could push on to link up with those when attacking.  Bent could also do a job if people realise that he is a goal scorer, just not a good footballer.

Oh and I forgot the great hope that is... Carroll...

Crouch has a very impressive record for England so I understand why he's on the list but Defoe is so overrated. I wouldn't have him at Everton and that is saying something.  :O

I just think he's got a habit of shooting from distance too much especially as 99% of his shots go straight at the goalkeeper.

My favourite Defoe moment was when Howard saved his penalty in the 2-2 draw. Fantastic moment!!!

Defoe's a 1 in 3 striker wherever he goes including at international level. I'd take that.

Also, dont underestimate the ability to get under the skin of the opposition. Nothin like an orrible bar steward to wind up the other team!

I think Suarez is the king of that.

As for Defoe I don't understand all the fuss about his. There's a reason he doesn't get look in at Spurs and there's a reason spurs looked for a new striker over the previous transfer window

I think the reason that spurs are looking for a striker is because harry is their manager and harry is always looking for strikers.  I dont know the stats but i'd wager he's bought and sold more strikers than any other manager in the premier league!

Roy Keane went mental when it came to transfer window time. Although he was only in the prem for a short amount of time. As for 'Arry Wedknapp

Dan's not keen on international players.

Lets not forget that he hates our most successful international player
