Obviously today we all love it, but what was the reception
like at the time it was first introduced? For example, for the older
generation, did they dislike having a modern up beat tune being blasted out and
would have preferred just cheering and chanting. Just as an example.
I'm seriously
intrigued, because tbh if we had never played z cars and it was
introduced today, I'd be a bit concerned about whether or not it'd fit in with
our traditions. If you understand where im coming from.
I guess what I'm not taking into consideration is the popularity of z-cars at the time, and with it being from merseyside, it all kicked off with mass popularity to have it associated with everton. I don't know! anyone else around in this era that knows???
OldGoldenVision said:No idea kidda - well before my time!!!! Have a look on t'interweb; I'm sure you'll find some history on how it was chosen. I know that the cast of Z-cars attended one Saturday and one of them was a toffee so we played it. Must have gone down well as they chose to keep it.
