what was the original reception from evertonians when we first started playing z cars? OGV help?!

    Obviously today we all love it, but what was the reception
    like at the time it was first introduced? For example, for the older
    generation, did they dislike having a modern up beat tune being blasted out and
    would have preferred just cheering and chanting. Just as an example.



     I'm seriously
    intrigued, because tbh if we had never played z cars  and it was
    introduced today, I'd be a bit concerned about whether or not it'd fit in with
    our traditions.If you understand where im coming from.

    I guess what I'm not taking into consideration is the popularity of z-cars at the time, and with it being from merseyside, it all kicked off with mass popularity to have it associated with everton. I don't know! anyone else around in this era that knows???

    No idea kidda - well before my time!!!! Have a look on t'interweb; I'm sure you'll find some history on how it was chosen. I know that the cast of Z-cars attended one Saturday and one of them was a toffee so we played it. Must have gone down well as they chose to keep it.

    hmmm sorry if it was before your time, I just presumed you were one of the older membrs here because of your golden vision nickname.
    found one good summary but nothing on the reception of it. maybe i need to ask around the pubs, im sure theres plenty that know. the issue is of course people just giving their own opinions of it and not the general majority of fans, ah well lol
