Tony Hibbert was named Everton’s player of the month on Tuesday.
The defender collected his award at a special lunch at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool city centre.
The lunch, sponsored by SE Investments, was hosted by Radio City’s Alan Irwin and attended by Graeme Sharp and Ronnie Goodlass.
The highlight of September for Hibbert was the 3-1 win over Wigan in which he contributed an assist for Apostolos Vellios’ vital goal and also produced a number of telling defensive blocks.
He told evertontv: "People will talk about the Wigan game but I am just happy to be in the team and hopefully I can stay there now."It was nice to put a cross in for an important goal and, at the time it felt like a weight of our shoulders."I put in a few blocks after the cross and I probably got more joy out of doing that to be honest."I am a defender and it is built in to me. I like tackling and I like blocking things."
