4-4-2

A lot of you are calling for us to play this formation but I don't it will do us any favours. 4-4-2 is hardly used by any team in the prem this year for whatever reason.

    Man City - 4-2-3-1
Man Utd - 4-4-1-1 (Rooney playing behind the striker)
    Chels - 4-3-3
    R.S. - 4-2-3-1
Spurs - 4-4-1-1 (VDV behind the striker)
    Arsenal - 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3

Don't get me wrong there are some teams lower down in the league that use it and occasionally Man Utd use it against smaller team but in my opinion teams/ managers have moved on from it.

Other types of 4-4-2 such as the diamond/ 4-1-2-1-2 formation gives us very limited width and lets face it the wings seem to be our best way forward.

Something needs to change and people need to be dropped, like cahill coleman and maybe osman, saha cant be blamed to much, he has had zero support what so ever nothing to feed off.

4-4-1-1 with two forwards (one big target man and one faster player, either a complete striker or a poacher playing just behind him) would probably be better than 4-4-2. I could see Vellios or big Denis as our target man with Magaye acting as a poacher, running in to finish chances off. Although, Idon't expect Moyes to use this tactic anytime soon...sigh :(

If Joao Sila returns to us next season, he would fit into this set-up nicely as a complete striker playing behind big Denis or Vellios, or even a target man, if we didn't sign Stracq permanently

    .-------------------------------------Vellios (Stracq)----------------------------------------

    --------------------------------------Gueye-----------------------------------------

    Drenthe-------Barkley (Osman)-------Fellaini (Rodwell)-----Billy (Coleman)

    Baines-------------Distin (Jags)--------Heitinga--------------Neville (Coleman)

    ---------------------------------------Howard-------------------------------------------------

the problem isnt the formation its the strikers.

    saha, anichebe, vellios and straq

there the kind of strikers you would expect at a championship level club.

I reckon if Vellios, Stracq and Gueye were allowed to start or given some more game time, come January, those three would be good enough to get us goals on a consistant basis.

You can't say you are not impressed with Vellios so far, can you? I agree with you about Vic though, and Saha is clearly past his best. It's Moyes's fault if keeps selecting he wrong players to start each match.

As long as our financial situation stays the same, Vellios, Gueye, Joao Silva and Stracq (if we keep him) are our future, but at least they all look promising.

Strikers are left by themselves aren`t they? Moyes defensive caution is strangeling our offensive play. Imo we lack a more direct link between our midfield and strikers. Cahill`s build up contributions are poor, and our lone striker is overburdened. Moyes seem to have a fear of change and an unflexibility worthy of comparison to Einstein`s definition of madness.

I would bench: Rodwell, Osman, Coleman, Cahill & Saha

In: Drenthe, Vellios, Straq, Billy & Gueye

Probably sub Gueye or Billy for Barkley last 30mins in every game to boost his experience.

                 Howard
    Hibbert Jags Distin Baines
                Fellaini
     Gueye    Billy    Drenthe
            Vellios Straq

Howdy, Stranger!
