Can Barkley be the "new Arteta"?

No disrespect to Felli and Rodders who have done a good in the centre but Barkley has that inspirational flair that Mikel had in his prime. I'd like to see him in the centre of the midfield creating the play but then again I'd like to see him there longer then 5 minutes before some team snaps him up.

Centre mid is an important role so he would need to be eased in rather then just thrown in the deep end.

From what I've seen he looks skillful. I'd like to see him play in front of Felli and Rodders maybe with two players in advanced wide positions and a striker.

Maybe one day Barkley will take a 10k pay cut and go to Arsenal as well

Barkley looked good at centre mid when we played 4-1-4-1 against Villarreal. I know we went on the lose that game but I believe we only lost because it was a friendly and we did a load of subs so we could give everyone a game.

He's definatly better in a central midfield role although I'd rather seem him pushed further forward than the somewhat deeper position Arteta tends to take up.

To be the new Arteta you have to play regularly, and Barkley isn't playing regularly at the moment.

Amazing...........what happened to you all saying(ok not all, just a figure of speach), Billy should play centre behind the striker............so forgetful some of you
However i'd love to see him have a run of a few games, then back on the bench for a bit. What were doing with him is right, he's not long turned 17 dont forget, and even some of our senior expensive players havent got a grasp of the Prem yet(you know who i mean).......

I still don't understand how people can want Bily to play behind the striker when he has never played there for Everton. Its like saying Hibbert's best position is up front even though he has never been tried there! And just to keep you happy, If we play 4 4 1 1, think that Cahill is the best player we could have play off the striker  :-bd
