It does indeed depend upon usage. I use mine predominantly for work and my iPad2 for play, even the S2's screen is too small to properly enjoy browsing. The thing i dislike the most about the S2 though, it's the build quality. Not that it's built badly, it's just too light and feel like it's been made of cheap materials.

As for iTunes, what's wrong with it? I've not really used it to buy much yet. My iPad's jailbroken so all the apps are free and iTune converted/converts all my music so i have no need for their stuff. The only things i really have on the phone are work stuff.

    -----------------

I cannot stand Itunes.. The fact that just to copy something you have to give over your account details even if you never plan on buying anything..
First thing it did when I registered was copy all the music from C drive back onto my c drive in another folder called I tunes.. like I want it twice.. then it kept looping on an update, eventually fixed that, then it tries to sync the iphone everytime I connected even though I just wanted to copy a picture onto it, the program is slow, all over the place, pants at making play lists... so on and so on.. Worst music program I have used..
Iphone 4s is a great piece of kit but the S2 is easily as good..
Its the old windows or mac argument but with a different os I guess. I like being able to plug and play with my PC and the screen is ace, oh and agree the build feels cheap on the back.. when you take the back cover off which is a little flimsy, other than that it feels like any other phone but as someone who has dropped theirs I can assure you its pretty shock resistant lol.

Each to their own I suppose. I also have the Desire HD and find Android with htc sense to be fantastic tbh, as I said though, even with the 4.3" screen, browsing's a chore. With the 4S I can do everything (not strictly true until 2012) via Siri, no faffing about with tiny keyboards, having to spend more time editing the text than it took to write it. In my experience so far, I'd say Siri gets 1/500 things wrong, and that's usually when I'm pushing it to its limits. I'm currently translating a book written by a friend in broken English into something he can send to a publisher. I have the book on the iPad and dictate it onto the phone, previously I was confined to doing it at home with Dragon Naturally Speaking, but Siri lets me do it anytime I like. Not to mention the fact I've not had to use my memory for work since I got it, more room for useless facts

If it had hands and bigger holes I'd marry it. L-) B-)

Hows that different to androids speach to text software? Its only better because of the very limits of what it can do anyway.. booking stuff on the calendar or checking the weather, as for dictation and the rest, nothing the S2 can't do.
Still if you are lugging around an Ipad there's no need for anything more than a 10 quid phone with the number buttons to be fair, I am sure siri can go on that.
You crack on.. The fundamental question you should ask yourself though is.. if you were to breed with an ipad do you get iphone or ipod?

Androids speech recognition software is pants in comparison. I speak with a perfect English accent when necessary and it still gets loads wrong, I may as well be using the keyboard for all the corrections I have to make. Plus, all the calendar, reminder and note stuff is invaluable for work. The S2 may as well be the brick phone posted earlier in the thread compared to my girlphone.

Me + iPhone = The beginnings of Skynet.

Maybe its a Devonshire thing then works okay for me. Siri is better no doubt but for the average user the S2 is more than adequate in terms of speech recognition. Its just not enough for me to make up for the screen and having to use I tunes..
