We are talking of the biggest sport in the world and now the only one that does not introduce technology. FIFA take so long to introduce anything that because it wants to get as many brown paper bags as possible before making a decision.

Suarez like most foreign players act as if they have been shot when the slightest touch comes in but we now all accept it. I don't blame him as rodwell did catch him but it is a contact sport and the tackle was one of the cleanest this season.

Referees have a horrible job and will make some mistakes (in Atkinson's case well above average) but technology could solve the problem.

When a referee books or sends a player off the game carries on while a TV official examines it and if feels a mistake has been made overturns it. ie in Rodwell's case his allowed back on the pitch the minute the decision is made and the ref is informed through his mike. This avoids the delays to the game that everyone is worries about.

Also if he misses an incident the ref is informed and action is taken accordingly. If a player fakes injury or dives they should be punished via the TV official.

Football is too big to allow human error and acting to effect such important games. Also supporters are investing a lot of money and yesterday see a ref kill the game in the first 25 mins.

We were not the only ones Wolves could go down this season by a point which they were robbed of by 2 bad decisions yesterday.

Football needs to get back to being about football and not money but when FIFA are lining their pockets and sending World Cups to locations that are not going to give the best players in the world to proform at their peak. No wonder international football is slowly dying.

Fans need to start standing up for the game. Boo diving and play acting done by their own teams, managers stop allowing their players to behave like this and show the officials we do not want it in the game anymore because it is the cancer killing the game.

if you need technology for a ref 2 yards away from an incident then we may as well all give up, all the calls to help referees with technology and they dont help themselves with inept decision making, he should be banned from refereeing games if he cant make simple basic decisions. hes a disgrace to football and should resign in shame, there proffessinal now on good salaries yet hes no better than a sunday league ref(no disrespect to amateur refs)

THE REF ( THATS A JOKE)

Made a lot of mistakes yesterday. However sad it was loosing Rodwell so early the boys reacted the wrong way. They should of taken strength from that outrage and bullied Liverpool into submission. We let them play and the goals were well as big a joke as Rodwell getting sent off.
Carroll goal was a defensive lapse, not a great goal from an over rated very expensive player who like Torres believes he's good.....the last goal was straight out of keystone cops but it was evident the lads gave up being focused.........and more so when Kuyt nearly made it 3.

The great points was what a keeper Tim Howard was especially the penalty............

The team has to mental overcome issues and focus on consistency we lost against City , the team we played 8 times and beat them 7 so they have expensive players but imagine how to manager them madonnas.....how good are they when under pressure AVERAGE, out wit them bully them and leave them that playing Everton is a challenge they don't want to look forward too....

Liverpool was the same new team, £100 million spent pretty below average and no guts just show.......

Chelsea next they know we are tough cookie, this should be the turning point and I would look at keeping Neville on as captain as he bosses the players and we need a general on the pitch, coleman brilliant, jags and Cahill loosing confidence but great players who need to step up a gear.

New lads good but need Saha on ( if he is fit) he needs to be our Dixi and he can score but he has to believe he wants to be that hero.

Its not their ability its their mental confidence and we as fans need to get behind these lads , as the peoples club and show the league and the world that EVERTON are a better investment than CITY, CHELSEA,and LIVERPOOL

As for Rodwell he is a great lad but he has to show he's not a boy but a man and class act.

well rodwell showed hes not a boy and a class act with a fabulous challenge and got sent off for it, we did give away 2 poor goals and with 10 men on a very hot day a mistake was always going to appear eventually, we held our own for 70 minutes and couldnt really ask for much more other than a ref with a clue

The goals were poor but the 10 men had been running all game in a very hot day.

Cjohno I agree we shouldn't need technology for that decision but we did because Rodwell was sent off and we played 70 mins with 10 men. There is nothing that can change yesterday's decision but surely we can look for solutions to avoid it happening again? That decision killed the game that was showing great promise. My point was to move away from that specific incident because we all agree the decision was a joke and comment on the constant resistance to the use of technology that would protect players against bad decisions.

All the new rules focus on protecting the player and inturn are taking the art of tackling out the game therefore playing into the hands of the diving and playactors. .

I personally was proud of the Everton boys yesterday and feel this is over critical of Rodwell who has started showing some of his potential. I would say it was the best tackle of the match. Also very few teams could have done much better playing so long in such heat with 10 men.

Liverpool do not look good and we could have beaten them but we will never know thanks to the ref.

if were going to need technology for what should be basic easy decisions for referees, then we will be playing for 3 hours, its going to turn into american football with flags thrown on every play, my real idea would be for managers to have 2 maybe 3 chances per game to get a decision reviewed, if they dont disagree they can ask the fourth official to review a situation and rectify it if a wrong decision, even that will become abused with some managers just asking for anything to be reviewed to try and find some technical fault with a decision, the game is all about fine margins and thats ok it does balance itself out over time, its just sad that we have got people officiating the game who havent got a clue about it. lets just have a ref sitting in the stands with all the coverage he needs and he can just sit there and press a button when theres an incident, starts becoming robotic, football does need a little controversy, it would become boring without it, all it needs is referees who actually know what footballs about, its been mentione dfor years about making ex players referees, maybe make it more financially attractive to ex players to referee, some of the best cricket umpires are ex players, altho look at referees in rugby whether they have played the game or not they seem to understand the game and get the respect off players because of this, how can referees expect any respect in football with there constant ineptness.

Technology can play its part but agree it cannot interfere with the game. Thats why for that Rodwell incident or other red card incidents the ref decision stands and he goes off and the game continues. If the TV official over rules it the player comes back on and we will have only lost him for a couple of minutes not the 70 we had to. Same with other decisions penalties, disallowed goals the game continues unless the TV ref comes back and overrules. But only game changing decisions.

The technology should not effect the flow but enhance the refereeing.

but if the game continues for any length of time, then someone scores, then the 4th official decides that a ref made a wrong decision 2 minutes earlier do we disallow the goal and go all the way back to his original decision, i know rodwell would take seconds but some decisions can take longer to review, we see it all the time on sky at half time sometimes they need to review 3/4 different angles before they make up there mind. im not against technology in some instances(goal line etc) but its coming to the point of total ineptness from referees week in week out.thats what we have to look at, we dont have total pissssss poor refereeing in most other sports.

Agreed there needs to be a length of time plus also for goals you have goalline technology and others are only quick decisions that are wrong like Rodwell and the Wolves penalty.

If the ball crosses the line and was not seen and the other team go up the pitch and score it should get called back because a goal was scored

well again the main talking point was about poor refereeing and its week in week out, since they have become proffessional they have become worse, never saw a referee in the past, didnt know him from adam years ago, the game was tough and very physical, yet very rarely was the ref a focal point after the game, maybe we can blame the media for highlighting everything now, and making refs into stars, maybe get shut of the lot, bring in a load of refs from the sunday leagues they wont do any worse.
