He blamed Jagielka for Mario Balotelli's goal. He said a defender shouldn't thrown himself at the ball because; A) The attacking player can dummy the ball past him (In this scenario it didn't matter because the box was crowded) and B) by throwing himself at the ball he doesn't make him and bigger or more likely to block the ball. Erm... Gary you are thick. Sit down and shut up.

He was famous for passing the ball to a better player throughout his career (Beckham and Ronaldo).

probably right though, the amount of deflected goals you see because defenders just jump in, balotelli was surrounded should of just stood up.

How many times has jags saved us with his blocks? Jagielka is the best in the league at blocking shots IMO. Lets face it if you leave a shot you catch a keeper off guard because he's expecting the block or you block the keeper's sight of the ball leave the shot impossible to judge.

i completely agree OGV, not keen on the guy, he has a lot to learn punditry wise aswell, but as a player, we probs wont find a right back for england as good in the next 20 years either.....

I didn't think a lot of him to be honest, I don't think he wasn't much better than his brother.

I never rated him at all, he was overrated.

He was solid in defence and did everything you could ask of him going forward. Yes he played with some exceptional wingers, but he was always there to offer the overlap or as an outlet.

Not usually one for sweeping statements, but anyone who doesnt rate him as a fullback really doesnt understand the position, or is allowing dislike of the man to cloud their judgement.

He was sh|te. He was the worst player every time in that back 4. England has never had a good right back (in the last 20 years) and they still don't.

Never rated him at all. He was better than most but he made the headlines for how much he hated Liverpool more than anything else.

Being the best right back for England is like saying such a player is the best player for scotland.
