First day of the week at work today and talk of the derby this week has started, im all for a bit of banter before the big game but the derby is different its the only time of the season when im quiet and nervous, My head and my heart says we will win.. Anyone else bricking it??

I think we will win it.

It's certainly not the same as the nineties when I dreaded derby day because I nearly always expected to lose. Liverpool are not the untouchables they once were and I think our style of play will frustrate them.

Anyone want to bet on the number of red cards?

They don't look all that... that said, neither do we.

Wouldn't be surprised if it went either way.

Just found out Martin Atkinson is the ref.. im happy with that, shame we have to worry about who's reffing it but when your playing against that lot you do!

I love derby week.......its the only games that i get really nervous for.......impossible to predict, I think Liverpool will be much improved from last year's derby (worst liverpool team performance i've seen in ages).......

Hate Derby's for the nerves. Im better if were at home, coz i'll be there. Away games im a wreck always hide away until final score, turning on the car radio, ohhh hate it. True story, in the late 8O's or early 90's can remember hiding all day from the score, pre Sky days, then when it was time to put the radio on , i did it slowly the volume getting higher, only to be confronted with Radio Merseyside news, no mention of the Derby, then right at the end the woman announcer said about the Derby having to be abandoned due to a water logged pitch!!!!! Anyone remember this? i could'nt believe it; all day in a state and it was never played.......

For the first time in a while, I really couldn't say which way I think this will go...... And it's the first time I've been excited about a derby so early in the week, it's usually Friday evening before I get excited!

Drenthe cross, Stracq's first goal; and a second late on to cement him in Goodison folklore!

Denis to menace the RS for years to come...

You're right!! The pressure is always on the RS, because we are JUST Everton to the experts. Drenthe will love the atmosphere and will run riot. I would love to see young Vellios getting another towering headed goal. I honestly think that Everton will be well up for this weekend.

Phase 1 - Usually in the weeks prior (or on the Monday). You are aware of the event on the horizon and an uneasy feeling starts to creep into your soul

Phase 2 - You start to reminisce about happy derbys gone by and heros like King, Sharp, Ferguson, Kanchelskis, Campbell, Carsley, Johnson, Cahill and you think how sweet it will be if we do these Carts on Saturday. You picture scenarios in which we will score..... cross headed half away HIBBERT!!! (well we can only dream)

Phase 3 - The over confident red **** come out the woodwork and you realise even though winning will be euphoric pleasure there is also the chance that gang of jammy horrible devil worshiping cliche morons who have a deal with Lucifer himself have also given you some of your worst days of your life on days like this weekend, a dred rushes through your entire body thinking the worst and the repercussions if it where to all go wrong.

Phase 4 - Sleep is starting to become an issue as the day draws near. The contrasting emotions of phase 2 and 3 fight with each other as you try and wrestle yourself to sleep at night.

Phase (Deaf Con) 5 - Its derby day, on two hours sleep you head out, your body is unable to accept a full meal and will only let you fill it with hard liquor - Vodka, Brandy, Whiskey help your shuddering bones. As you reach your seat and hear z cars or if at their place that celtic song they play you realise the time is now, this is it 90 mins of hell.. wincing behind your squinted eyes every time they attack us the feeling off being on a rollercoaster as we attack. God speed to us all...

I am currently at phase 1 awaiting a week of emotions.

But whatever happens lads remember 1 evertonian is worth 20 of them Carts!

COME ON EVERTON THESE ARE ****!!!
