Playing negative or playing for a draw?

    I personally don't mind negative tactics/ formations but the one thing that does get on my nerves is playing for a draw. Does anyone think Moyes didn't care about winning against City on Saturday? Was he just trying to avoid defeat? I understand that some games are going to be difficult but against City our tactics of corners were just embarrassing. We only put 2 or 3 players in the area. It seemed like Moyes saw our corners as a counter attacking opportunity  for City rather then a chance for us to grab a goal. Even if we went to play Barcelona I wouldn't expect such negative tactics. I love Moyes but I think he c*ck'd it up on the weekend.

    lets say we got beat 5-0 and we played a more attacking formation.

    The end of the season, we miss out on europe cos the team in 6th or 7th has a +14 GD and we have a +12 GD, How many people would start moaning that we shouldnt have been so attacking when we got thumped at Man City??

    I'm not saying we should of been attacking just more attacking then what we were. We sat back for too much of the game and we looked afraid to attack in case they hit us on the counter. He did eventually bring a striker on (Saha) but he was very lazy.

    I think he was going for the win against Citeh... But that Moyes's plan including drawing for 80 mins, and then changing things, with forwards and pace.

    Just didn't work out for him. But it wasn't far off, don't think Moyes ever plans for a draw in the prem.

    I think Plan A was certainly to pinch a win as TC has outlined.

    Plan B involved not geting hammered by 4 or 5 goals.

    Not many teams will get anything from City this season, especially at their place. And goal difference may play a big part at the end of the season.

    I know I already said this but our corners were so poor just because we had no one in the middle.

    Nobody wanted us to play an attacking formation, they just don't want to see us defend for 90 minutes. You can't sit back against Man City that's for sure, and even Distin and Jagielka said that.

    Had we got the throw-in, and deflection off Jags wasn't lucky for City, we might've got a 0.0.........but that's Football. Although, i doubt we'd have survived another 25mins the way it was 'Attack v Defence'. STILL, 7 Wins out of 9 v City ain;t bad.
