Now before i get my bum handed to me, i love our timmy as much as the next evertonian. but as far as him being a first team starter, i think hes done. I think he should be moved down then bench now to more of an impact sub as he still has that ability to be invisible in the box and leap about 40 foot, however, it seems that's about all hes got.
i reckon hed do well in a front 2 as the target man next to a proper striker but how often does that happen????

he was amazing against wigan, he worked his footballs off!!!

I was at the game and watching him..........

Unless you watch him week in week out, no one can comment!  Not saying you dont like...

ha......i get to about half the games a year and watch the rest on what ever i can due to cost and distance.

i should have included his work rate and commitment in my post because its unrivalled but, he is not a centre mid and for all his work and effort as a target man, there is no one there to finish the job. that's why i said hed do well next to a proper striker, a poacher like defo (not that i want or even think we would get defo that is)
so without this turning into a debate about who we could get to support cahill, (if that day ever comes), where do u guys see timmy's role in the team?

Tim's agreat lad, but not a starter upfront. Why can't we play a "real" striker?

your absolutely right. this time last year, up until xmas, he was used as an attacking mid and was our top scorer. since then, hes been used in the centre as well as up front.
the obvious answer is 'well play him as an attacking mid'

i would love to see him start bangin in the goals again and he probably will but hes not getting any younger, added to the fact hes not scored for ages starts to make people wonder..........

could it possibly be that our lack of quality up front is making him seem a worse player? like i said earlier, if we had a top poacher playing next to him it would be great. with his work rate and aerial ability, he'd probably get about 25 assists a season

Everyone is going to have an off day once in a while. I believe it is only a matter of time before Timmy bangs one into the back of the net. He works his butt off game after game and deserves to start each week. Give him time, the season is just getting under way, it's too early to give up on him.

he certainly works his butt off. he just needs some help up there. to think that he can be a lone striker is just silly. give him a proper striker to play off of and the goals will come in masses

i think a striker playing off him would be better, cahill winning all the knock downs and whoever tappin them in.but the million dollar question is..................

He was exceptional against Villa as well.

he works hard, but he's bad with both feet which costs him tons of opportunities.  lousy first touch, not a good passer in the box, not a threat in any way unless the ball is int he air.

I am not agaisnt keeping him in the linup, but he has to drop back where he can be less of a liability.

The problem is evident when our style of play is dependent on Timmy to score. We were better off without him at the second half of last season.

We always do well in the seconds half of the season regardless of who's playing

In some ways he's the "safest" player to have upfront for us at times. By that I mean your always guranteed to get a good shift out of him and he can take a few chance as well and work the defenders but overall we do need to phase him out a bit from playing the lone role and into a super sub or playing behind a main striker in tougher games.

Plain n simple. NO HE'S NOT FINISHED, HAS PLAYED WELL THIS SEASON IN A ROLE NOT SUITING HIM, BACK TO GOAL.
GET A GRIP ALL U TIMMY SCAPEGOATERS. Every season there is a scapegoat, its just his turn with some of you, who know nothing about football. Osman, Hibbo, Neville, Billybechod, Jags, Rodwell have all suffered from you fools......

I don't think he's finished but he's not the same player he once was.

He has not scored recently, however his work rate and team spirit in every match remain 120%.
He never hides during a game and this is the type player the club needs exactly at this moment in time.
DM should play him off a striker not utilize him as the striker.
The question I would ask is who would you replace him with????
