I'm not religious in any form, but just wondered what's the difference with all these religions, surely they all believe in the same god or whatever he/she is called, it all seems a bit strange to me- I think people just need to believe in something for their own sanity.

Not religious, therefore you cannot talk about it? Bullcraparooney.

There are so many subsets of religion because everyone wants to have it their own way, so has their own little branch, all based of the single book. It is weird. I never quite understand the sky fairy brigade.

Is it your god or the one for the mass's mate. I believe in something but I don't know what it is, don't think it's the dad of some hippie lad who appeared 2000 yr ago.

fear of death; thats what religion is all about.

all religions offer life after death in some form, be it heaven, hell or reincarnation.

if that was all there was to it there wouldnt be much too complain about.

but we are still fighting wars over these primitive, tribal beliefs and its time to marginalise them so that they do less harm.

    Look its all quite simple..
In the beginning, there were idiots.. some evolved, some denied evolution and just killed other idiots over the idea that a book that was created by a person, that is constantly rewritten, is in fact the truth and people should die over it.... which people? well the ones with the other book that was written years ago and has constantly changed with time but is somehow clearly wrong.

Its important to note however that despite the tens of thousands of gods that have been invented, its important that youopt for the current one, and only the one which your book talks about.
And yes the book is indeed full of c**p and impossible stories... all of which are in fact true.
Yep, you see, a giant spaceman, that exists outside of time and space made us, killed us all with rain, then repopulated the world with 2 people in the space of a few thousand years so he can judge us and send us to hell if we havn't chosen the correct book..
Fk that, I reckon with a 1 in 12000 chance of the getting correct, randomly chosen god, your better off doing something better with your life than worshiping whichever deathbringer and hater of humanity your local populace happens to gullible enough to believe.

it seems to me that christianity has diverged a lot from the teachings of jesus, which for the most part are still relevant. the sermon on the mount was the longest speech he gave and it is probably the centerpiece of xtianity.

you'd be hard pressed to find many xtians who would agree with a lot of it.

as for god, ive got no problem with god, its religion that has poisoned the minds of so many people, and the fact that we are still fighting wars over it is proof that it has a weird effect on the psyche of many of its practitioners.

    someone said that:

'good people do good things; bad people do bad things; but it takes religion to make good people do bad things.'
