Some of you lot who have come on today to slate Moyes, the team, the performance or whatever when we were unbeaten in 5?

There seem to be a lot who only come on to bash the manager or the team, but never come on to celebrate a win or praise a good performance.

If we'd started 442 with vellios and saha up front, Barkley on instead of coleman and neville on the bench and attacked from the off (like a lot of you wanted us to do), and then got spanked by 4,5,6  or maybe even more I bet you'd still be criticizing the team, tactics and selection.

We were away at a team that having been banging goals in for fun, destroying teams that have come to play. For 60 minutes we contained and frustrated them. If we'd have nicked one and held out until 90 minutes, this forum would be empty again tonight

    A good point!

Many Everton fans hate Everton more than RS hate us, its true.

They hate the board, the manager, the players, the ground, the new kit, other Evertonians... the list is endless. They do however love an aspiration to greatness that ascends beyond the club to the extent that it is no longer attached to the club; or any basis in reality. I dub them Nevertonians.

Sorry, you're right, they love the word "Everton" but in a very abstract sense not connected with reality.

Funny thing about football - people support a club but dont appear to like anything about it, other than the idea that one day it will be great again. Instead of getting behind it; celebrating the wins and trying to understand the losses; appreciating what we have and dreaming of what we might get; they slag off everything about it and the fans who happen to just want to get behind the team and enjoy those things I've mentioned.

    Spot on mate!!

We're all blues (except tickets), and we shoulkd be behind the team though thick and thin. In some peoples eyes we can't do right for doing wrong, no matter what we do.

I think people are upset because we were a sorry state in attack today

We lost, against a very good team who have dismantled opposition this year and who are in with a very good chance of winning the league. Their squad is worth 500m.

We lost through a deflection; and a late silly mistake.

We are in the top half of the league, with a game in hand over a lot of clubs.

I myself feel we should have fielded a recognised striker; however that doesn't mean I need to fall out with those who have pointed out that we could still have nicked it; or to shout that Moyes should be sacked because sometimes he doesnt do what the fans want him to do.

Madness. We're all blues (except Tickets) and we should get behind what we've got. We can have a really good season here!

A good post and very true, I think some enjoy moaning more than football to be honest.

This post is all wrong. Most people didn't expect us to play 4 4 2 and go all out attack, they just wanted to see us have a shot on target FFS. Some people are a bit deluded, but most understand that we can't win every game. I was disappointed with the tactics today. I don't mind us playing 4 5 1 away to one of the bigger teams, but it looked like we played 4 6 0 today, and not once did we look like scoring. I have no problem with Everton losing if we have a good go, but today I don't think we had a good go, and that's because we wasn't able to have a good go because of the tactics. I don't want Moyes to be sacked and I don't want to have a go at him, but I can't say to you know that I am happy with him playing for a 0-0 for 90 minutes because you can't do that.

Our performance wasn't great attacking-wise; but we were great defensively. The luck and the referee were with Manchester City today, and there's not much you can do when that happens. I think that Moyes set out to defend well and hope to nick a goal, and defend that as well. It was working perfectly fine up until the linesman bottled it and gave City a throw in instead of Everton. I left the Etihad Stadium disappointed, and thought the performance was crap; but having seen the highlights on MOTD, it's reassured me, and showed that we at least deserved a point.

In fact, we played the exact same way last year at City, we got the luck and defended well, and ended up winning. On another day the same system would've worked, but unfortunately, today wasn't our day (it rarely ever is).

I would say its only natural to vent your anger when you are passionate about the team you love as you hope for better and aspire to be the best. And watching the game you would argue moyes was defeatist going with such a negative attitude. I was always told the best form of defence is attack. We did not give ourselves a chance as we started with no pace up front to counter attack or any real air presence such as vellios & saha, many may say cahill but he is no good with his back to goal.I don;t mind losing but lets lose having a go at wining and maybe then we can hold our heads up and say we had a go.

its just unfortunate that in the sixty years of supporting Everton i've got used to attacking football( school of science and all that)with the exeption of walter smith and Harry catterick..in cattericks case it was the fans that made him change tactics(you know..things like moaning at boring football etc...) andin the case of smith  we sacked him...yesterday we played 10 0 0,  3 7 0,4 6 0,,and any other apart from attack....thats what upset many true blues yesterday,,i dont want to see that kind of sh''te week in week out...and i guarantee the gates will show that a lot of blues will vote with their feet(and  wallets)as they did many years ago...win or draw at the cost of no football on the pitch is not IN MY PERSONAL OPINION what the majority of blues want....

Every fan has the right to have a bit of a moan when things don't go well, and I know I do. But the ones that I actually pay attention to are the ones who'll come on here and praise the team when things go well, give the manager credit when he's got things right and admit they were wrong if they've called the tactics out, but we've gone on to win.

The main point of the thread was how many people came on the board yesterday purely to slag the team and the manager off when they are never normally on here showing support for the club they apparently love. There were a lot yesterday with only a handful of posts ripping into Everton Football Club, and a couple with a few more posts who only ever appear when things don't go well.
