Clearly, after watching the Oldham game we left far too much space between defence and midfield, especially in the 2nd half when Fellaini was pushed on.
As the game went on our superior fitness should tell but we looked more tired in the  last ten.Gibson and Osman arent mobile or quick enough to get back when we lose possession high up the pitch as their 1st goal demonstrated.

It was bold of Moyes to go 2 up top but even against league 1  we struggled with 2 in midfield and probably shows why Moyes favours 4-5-1.We defo need an enforcer like Fer,someone capable of getting up and down the pitch and offering protection to the defence.

Im afraid if we play Gibson and Osman as a two in the prem then we will get overpowered and out-run.
All this does is highlight our lack of depth in key-areas of the team.

It does highlight our lack of depth but as we don't have the money to do much about it, it's not really worth worrying about. It's not like we need a couple of back up players, we need another 11 players of equal/better talent as back up and we're not going to have that unless Bill sells up. It's frustrating I'll grant you, but we just have to be happy with what we have until we have £50m+ to spend. We're not going to have that anytime soon so just expect Baines & Fellaini to go, maybe Moyes, and do the best we can with what we have I'm afraid.

I get that way with Everton on occasion mate. 99% of the time I'm high so can ignore the realities of our situation, then people start slagging the team off and whilst I don't like doing it, knocking the knockers involves pointing out a few facts, facts that are a tad depressing.

I swear it was easier supporting us when we had no chance, it was just the unadulterated fantasy that we could get back to where we were. Now we have a decent team but very little backing to take the next step, whilst the likes of Man City live it up. It's not fair. ~X( :)

If some random Arab would just invest in us this summer, we'd 'only' need £100m odd to win the ****ing title ffs! The RS throw money around like it's going out of fashion and are still only at 70% of our current level!

It's frustrating to say the least mate.

This is the most depressing part of it. The Club was in a perfect position in January to take the plunge- not that it would have cost £100m; £10-20m would have been enough- and CL qualification would have been more likely than not. The board's failure to find even that "small" amount indicates that they are happy to remain owners of a mid-table club for the long term. The possibility of taking the Next Step does not appear to interest them; they are happy with an ultra-conservative, low-risk strategy.

Football revenues are set to rise over the coming decades, as new "fans" are attracted to it in the US, China, India and the Middle East. They will be predominantly plastic fans, who just choose whichever teams are the most well known and buy those teams' merchandise, pay-per-view TV screenings, sponsors' products etc. In that environment, it will be essential to make regular appearances in the CL, to secure a good share of the extra income. Our present situation reminds me of that in the late 1980s/ early '90s, when EFC's owners let a strong position slip away and the clever people at Man U et al recognised the value of being highly-placed in the then-new Premier League. This time, the damage may be permanent. Pass the pills...
