It is with great sadness that i write to inform the Everton Family world wide that we have lost one of our most loved Everton sons.
Harry Mawdsley (90) born in 1923 started work at Everton FC at the age of about 13 maybe younger, as a goffer.
His first job was to make sure that all the doors to the ground were locked after the match.
He was also paid some pennies by Dixie Dean to bring back the ball every time it went over the wall in training.
His best job was to go to the Red Brick Pub on Goodison Road on match days and find Dixie Dean,Ted Sagar & any other players in there & get them back to Goodison for the kick off. He would stand in the door way & call Mr Dean & Mr Sagar then wait for them, then walk back with them to the ground. Harry did this regularly during Dixie Deans later career at Everton. Harry was a feature around Everton for decades. He went on to run the Everton Pools & Lottery competitions for over 40 years. In his later years he worked from home due to mobility problems.
Harry knew all the players & their families through the 40's 50's 60's 70's 80's 90's etc;. He even knew the Liverpool players as they all lived not far away.

George Best called him a great Evertonian after Sky Sports did a programme on Harry.
His knowledge of Everton FC was endless, he was a walking history of the club.
He will be cremated at Anfield Crem;, after his coffin is taken around Goodison Park for the last time.
There will be a send off in the Dixie Dean Lounge later on.
The Everton family has lost one of it's finest sons.
    God Bless you Harry,
WE are Everton all our Lives.

Paul Russell ( The Legend Continues).
I will check with his family to get his birth date for clarity.
