    Would really appreciate it if anyone of my fellow Evertonians could sponsor me. I'm doing the Liverpool Half Marathon in March for Macmillan Cancer Support. Brilliant charity and very worthy cause. Anything you can give would be a tremendous help.

    I don't sponsor people to go off and enjoy a physical pursuit that they do for pleasure, I donate to a number of charities on a regular direct debit but don't believe that people run marathons or climb mountains (Kilimanjaro is a bloody hike anyway) "for charity" they do it for themselves !

    Me and you are kindred spirits mate. I'm thinking of having a sponsored holiday. I'll throw this guy a few quid though cos I asked on her for my "friend" a while back. Only fair.

    What a ****! i'm running a marathon for the same charity in April and there is no pleasure in running 30-40 miles everyweek in training for it and its got nothing to do with me doing it for myself. I'm doing it because it is a challenge and i wouldnt ask anybody to sponsor me for walking a mile at midnight etc...
    So get off his back you ****, he is trying to do a good thing for a good charity, if you dont want to sponsor him dont comment but dont start with your s**t

    I've just done a 15 mile run today and hated every minute of it but knowing that all the kind people who have sponsored me for a good charity helps me to get through it. I cant wait until its over and i dont have to run such stupid distances again

    Why don't you just give what you would have spent on beer for six months to charity and save yourself the "agony" of running everyday if you hate it so much, surely giving up beer for six months is a "challenge" too ?

    I'm personally doing it because my granddad recently died and he was cared for near the end of his life at a macmillan nursing home where they let us stay and fed and watered us when they believed it was nearly his time to go. So it's really just a way of thanking them. I've never done a run like this before so you're right, it is a challenge for me personally but more importantly just to give something back. Don't have to sponsor me, just donate to this charity on their website please, amazing charity and an amazing place with amazing staff. thank you

    You have my word that I will donate to this charity, not because you are running in a marathon but because yes they do an amazing job and are hugely dedicated people, condolences on the passing of your grandad.
