which believe it or not makes it more dangerous ... the fact that people have padding makes them think they are invincible and so they throw their bodies through the air to smash into other people ... i understand that tackling is a huge part of rugby but they are moving much more laterally and do not build the momentum say a safety does when he begins a 20 yard sprint only to meet another person going the total opposite direction in full stride

From what I've heard, if the law suit is successful it will result in the end of the smash tackle and a slow, painful 30 year death for the sport. As much as you guys love your gladiatorial endeavours, the do gooders will scream and shout. Even Obama's publicly come out and said that if he had a son, he'd have to seriously consider letting them play the sport. If kids don't play it then its over, slowly.

why would the sport not just evolve into another thing why would it have to end .... maybe the lawsuit ends the sport as is but that doesnt imply that the game will be gone ... just gone in its current form maybe?

Posts: 909February 3 played american football and rugby... i got more injuries from american football... the pads actually make impact worse!!! shoulder pads take the blow and it transfers onto your chest... that's just one of the weird things about having padding on... and you wouldn't dive head to head in rugby... its regular in american footy...

It will evolve, but from the opinions i've read, it won't be anywhere near as popular as it is today and will revenue will drop significantly. Over time it will die. I doubt it will die completely but there's a good chance, it's not like it's even been around that long mate. -
