Everton. a BIG Club?

Moyes doesnt think we are a big club?

    Thoughts?

Ross Barkley is another emerging talent to
compliment the likes of Coleman and Jack Rodwell and Moyes knows giving
youngsters opportunities is the way forward.

"I've got to make sure that those players feel I believe in them," he continued.

"I've told the supporters we'll be giving a lot of the young boys
opportunities, and it'll be up to them to show that they can do it.

"In turn, it could mean that some results don't go the way we want.

"It's difficult for an EVERTON supporter to accept that because they see themselves as one of the big clubs.

All this talk of big club, no transfer fees, no yakubu replacement (his price tag was that of our first choice striker even if he's sale fee wasn't), Arteta going and money being given to the banks... no one seems to be think how Moyes is feeling about all this.

IMHO, everything he is saying is geared towards take his talk about Everton to the limit of what it is acceptable for him to say as Everton Manager.

He's done it in the past with the CEO saying we'd spent money, then Moyes came out and said they'd spend nothing but Lescott cash.

Now he's doing it again. Talking about young players, talking about how Everton want to see themselves. Talking about not replacing people and how people need to re-evaluate what they expect from Everton. Talking about giving money to the bank. Talking about us being unable to compete against Sunderland and Stoke in the transfer window.

If you were on the board or the CEO... I think you wouldn't want to do much more as Moyes might say something that steps over that line, or maybe resign.

Either way, I think he's been promised money in jan or next season, and I think he'll continue to talk in this way at times until he's spent it.

I think we need to look for a new manager. By the sound of Moyes's tone he's going to top himself sometime soon.

At least 1 x 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th finishes in a decade is more than Stoke, in what way are we on the same level as them?
Stoke and wolves are rubbish, we are not. We have quality seniors, quality youth players, and a quality academy. Our long terma dn recent history is bigger, we are in no way that far down.

Difference is stoke are building there team, just got into europe and a fa cup final, and are slowly looking to build on that.  they are in the same position we were about 5 years ago.  they have a decent squad there now and are yet to reach their peak

meanwhile we have had our peak which was 2009 when we reached the fa cup final  since then we have lost lescott, pienar and arteta in back to back seasons.  and look like losing fellaini aswell

we not catching up the top 6, we are standing still and hoping none of the teams below us over take us.  and bringing in loan signings as stop gaps hoping they come through.  any youth produce we have is immediately earmarked as a potential transfer so we can survive for another few years.

you cant build a team like this

moyes said in 2008 he had a 5 year plan, well he has 2 years left of this so lets see what he can produce.

Moyes is trying to play things down, its a bit obvious. Last season he couldn't wait for the season to start, this season he is taking one game at a time and he clearly doesn't want the same hype of last season. I think that Moyes will go at the end of his contract, and when he does, he will hopefully leave the new manager a good team. We have many talented youngsters in our squad and hopefully the older that get the better they will become.

how will he leave the manager with a good team.  he has already extended nevilles contract until 2013, i think he will extend distins contract to the same year.

this will be the age of some of our players.

    jags-31

    hibbert-32

saha-35-he will be long gone by then

    distin 35

    neville 36

    cahill 33

    osman 32

    howard 34

thats what the new manager will inherit,

the team will be STRONGER for the next 2 years with those players mentioned above in the team, rather then moyes buying loads of youngsters.  and thats what moyes cares abuot the next 2 years, not whats going to happen to the team in 5 years time,.

    In two years time:

    Howard
    Baines
    Jags
    Heittinga
    Hibbert
    Coleman
    Rodwell
    Fellaini
    Barkley
    Drenthe (He'll stay)
    Vellios

If Drenthe doesn't stay the money we save on the 10's of millions from the wages of the old boys will more than cover him and then you have the likes of Osman and Billy who will be entering the age of the players you listed... Also  the youth academy within a couple of years may well of produced more quality.
All the time we are turning a profit because of the players not taking a wage so we will have some money for a replacement where required.

No need to tie the noose above your bed quite yet.
None of which make Stoke anywhere near as big a club as us.

Building for the future is a pile of crap. Wenger has been doing it for years but only succeeded in going backwards.

If they are good enough they are old enough but like with a lot of youngster they dont fulfill their promise. We have got a good squad with a good mixture in 2 years time it will have changed. Give the youngsters a chance and if someone will offer a bid that meets our value sell him (Barkley 20 mill, Anichebe 20p.)

Stoke have done what they think will give them a better chance of staying in the top flight and possibly push for top half. I certainly would not call it planning for the future.
