11 goals in 25 games AND Everton offered him a contract as they wanted to keep him.

I'll repeat what i said all along, the lad needs games and time and he will do ok.

Late developing type like Osman i tell ya's.

How many maybe's can you keep hold of though.

    Not ready for 90 mins,like ossie wasn't.

Not our fault he wasn't as patient as ossie.

    What league is he in?

Shame we couldn;t keep hold of him and loan him out for a couple of years or so like we did with Ozzy.

I agree we cannot keep hold of everyone though.

your missing the point paulvandyke, we offered him a contract, which means there was potential there and we wanted to keep him as we think he will develop.

Yeah, but would he be at this level if he stayed with us?

No. He'd be sitting on the bench like the rest of them, progressing very little. Maybe he had potential, but I don't think Moyes would have let him go if he was going to be anywhere near as good as Jelavic can be. Nothing but the best nd all that. He'd have upped the contract offer if he refused.

Chelski seem to have players on loan all over the place.

Surely at us you would have more chance of actually coming back off loan & playing, ask Daniel Stupid. He was great at bolton & STILL couldn't impress his parent club.

Is Ruddy our only real mistake?

    Correct me,go on.

He wanted him to stay, Moyes sorts out all the contracts, Baxter wanted to leave, so he did.

If he had stayed it would have been good to loan him out like we did with Ozzy for a year at a time. perhaps that's what they would have done.

Now we will never know, i hope that lad does well. Who knows might get a chance in the prem in years to come. hopefully he will.

yeah didnt we let jags and baines go as school boys.....Jutkewitz or however you spell seems to know where the onion bag is in the championship, perhaps he might get his chance in the prem? There is probably more but i cant think of all of them.

I kinda trust Moyes' ability to notice real talent, like Rooney was, like Barkley hopefully will be, and like George Green should be.

If he was to let Barkley and Green go because they wanted more game time or a loan, and Moyes refused, then yes, we'd have a huge problem, but he would never do that. Baxter just wasn't going to ever be good enough.

    In moysies era,I meant.

Jukey witch is good but not quite there.

I'd like to say they turn into mistakes (shouldn't have let go) but I can't see it.

We don't get it right with the ones we keep every time either.

so why keep offering him contracts then?? Bit futile if they thought he was never going to be good enough.

Because he might become a squad player? Someone to fill the gaps. He'd never have been our starting number 9 and that is why it wasn't urgent to keep him.

Hopefully he scores the goal that knocks the RS out of the FA Cup, :D

Only a reserve game but I remember when we signed Royston and the Straq and they started against villa so I went down and watched it. Baxter ran the show, looked at ease was playing centre mid but bossed it for 90 mins. Moyes didnt know where to play him, seems like hes a forward for Dick'ed at Oldham now, worth a watch against the RS

I agreed with you in the summer and we got absolutely roasted for it. Big Vic is another good example of patience paying off, the amount of people who slated him and wanted to sell him in the summer who now champion him from this forum is unbelievable

Good luck to Jose though, he wanted to simply play the game he was paid to, not enough young lads out there with the bottle or the desire to do that

when Ozzy went out on loan to Derby and Carlisle i bet people were thinking wtf is he ever going to offer.

    And where is he now?

People tend to be short sighted with football, its all about the here and now....not what the future might bring....i'm not saying he is going to be a world beater, but how do we know he wont turn out like ozzy has?
