No offence to Indians but the place is a sh!thole, literally.

Few months ago the Indian government where trying to pressure another country to change its laws regarding abortion yet it's fine to rape women in India. The mind boggles.

2 things India need to clean up it's act.

    1. A time machine (To get to the 21st century)
    2. A sh!tload of plumbers.

I lived in Mumbai for 18 months with work. Loved it. Squalid, but more vibrant and full of life than any other place I have been to.

Err - what about your SIR Jimmy Saville??

raping and assaulting innocent young girls (and boys) for the last 50 years in the public eye. Everyone in the BBC knew and did nothing about it??!!

Don't make comments about other countries when you're own needs sorting out badly!!

You guys love to turn a blind eye and sweep things under the carpet at home but are only too keen on pointing out faults in other areas of the world!

Ps: I want my BBC TV licence money back for the last 40 years too!!

    50 mil,mate.

We don't bury our heads here but even evil scum like saville didn't get to them numbers.

It seems institutionalised in some areas to treat females this way & indias government seem to condone it.

totally out of context mate. if your offended by the article, get in touch with the BBC and make your point about Jimmy, b'cos i didn't actually write it believe it or not.

You read the article?? Its on Genocide proportions, Sir Jimmy hasn't killed anyone and/or been involved in the culling of females. (which is basically what it is)

I'm sure India is a lovely place, but personally, after reading that article, i will be keeping my money in my pocket, and India won't be on my list of places to go, its a principle thing with me you see......And before you think i'm singling India out, i wouldn't dream of going to China either.

Even being of Indian descent, I find the social practices in India deplorable.

Granted, each country has it's share of cr@p, but India feels like a social experiment gone wrong. The entrenchment of religion and archaic social structures in the Indian psyche is the root of most of their current misogyny.

Believe me, although they may give the impression of modernity, the mores they adhere to in their homes, villages and communities at large, are seriously outdated by millenia.

Hopefully, the future generations have a chance to be more progressive and can help to agitate for social change and make our motherland something to be proud of.

Believe me, their caste system is a vile insult to humanity, and makes apartheid here in SA look like a Sunday picnic.

    Xenophobia abounds.

I wish more people shared my perspective that countries are nothing more than land and boundaries. Child abuser, rapist or murderer, they're to be found on every piece of land regardless of it's name.

Whilst that's an ideal scenario, it was more of an ironic quote from a child abuser.  ;-)
