It's hardly been just a half season. 10 goals from 27 games throughout all of 2012 is a very very decent ratio - especially considering half of those were 10-20 minute cameo's and in many of them he wasn't even playing up front.

Okay then.. just over half and a little less than 3/4 of a season if you wish to be pedantic.. there's 38 games in a season and your talking about less than 30... in which he scored 10 goals against poor/average opposition..

Feel free to highlight the quality teams in this lot

There are also over 100 games of utter mediocrity in the last 7 seasons from him which is what I disliked.
But I have already said I am impressed with the improvement he shown, now he actually has the stamina to run from one side of the pitch to the other without looking like he needs to be subbed again, but also the will to do it if required, but to say we were wrong to be annoyed by someone just wondering around the pitch scoring 1 or even 0 goals in a season is wrong imo. He deserved criticism, we gave it.. I didn't at the game because I never would but to suggest we were wrong to find that level of laziness a disgrace is poor judgement imo.

It's hardly "pedantic" to point out the difference between a half a season and an entire calendar year - he scored our winner against Newcastle - nobody else did. Jelavic didn't. Why don't you get on his back if Newcastle are so poor. Coz Vic also did it against them at Goodison - twice - and was robbed on one of them!

Our equalizer against West Ham, set us up for a big win at Swansea - won us a good few vital points last season - these really bad teams - Jelavic was playing against them too.

You know what else.....I bet you were one of those cumming all over yourself over Jelavic socring 9 Prem goals in the second half of last season. Well Vic has also scored 9 in almost the exact same number of minutes on the pitch - without a run in the side - with more injuries - and without even playing up front alot of the time - so give the lad a break. You may not have been wrong to critisise what he has done 3 or 4 years ago (when he was a kid ffs), but you're certainly wrong to undermine what he has done over the last year!

January 3 I remember well when we were all betting on how many times he would fall over in a game, thats how bad he was, and his attitude stank...............maybe the penny has dropped, in that if he doesnt perform he will gradually fade away to the far reaches of the Blue Square. Lets rejoice for now but i still reserve judgement untill he does it on a regular basis, in scoring aswell as staying on his feet and stopping flinging his arms around in disgust at the service he's getting(think slowly but surely he's realised the ball wont come to him sometimes and you have to go to the ball to get it, ahhhhhhhhhhh).........here's hoping

January 3 Think people forget that when they are saying Vic aitn any good, he's had enough chances etc, that the lad has had some REALLY bad injuries, and it slows your development......i remember when Arteta did his cruciate, and when he started getting back in the team and regaining full fitness, Moyes said those types of injuries it can take upto another year after they get match fit to get back to the standard they were at....so if its that hard for a fully fledged first team player, god know's how hard it must for a young lad of 20 rupturing ligaments in his leg like Vic did at Newcastle to get back on the right road....

You should try reading my posts occasionally.. I think he's done very well in the last year.. and have said that in this thread...
Yes I thought Jelavic was superb when he scored 9 goals in a short amount of time, including some against very good opposition.
But I'm not talking about  4 years ago with Anichebe.. I am talking his entire history apart from some of his games in the last year.. Those are the times he's been unbearably ****. Your ability to seemingly forget these times is astounding to me.
As I said before .. I appreciate the improvement he's made and he is currently a very decent player.. But he has been the worst player in an Everton shirt for the previous 7 years though and deserved the grief he got for it, I never gave it to him pitch side mind you, unlike the ground full of idiots who boo'd him for a contract fiasco that never even existed, but I saw nothing of pride, passion or even remote interest in him when he played.. Yes injuries played a big part but attitude played just as much and his stank.
Now you throwing Jelavic at me as a counter to Anichebe is surely the worst possible thing to do..
Do I think Jelavic was ace during the time he scored those goals in quick succession.. yes.. Mind you his goals included 2 against united and 1 against Liverpool in that time (better opposiiton than Anichebe has ever scored against) but you can wave your Newcastle (conceded 39 goals in 15 games this season) at me if you want as some sort of counter.
But the quality of opposition and the quality of goals is not even the issue... Jelavic was scoring goals and I thought he was ace, now he's not, but he still creates and works damn hard and does the dirty work so I still think he's worth being in the team.
Anichebe however wondered the field like an old man without a care in the world letting the rest of the team carry him for 7 years. Now he pops up with 9 goals in a year and he's the next fking messiah.. he's playing well but not that well..
You see he has scored a grand total of... 16 league goals..ever
9 of which you say were scored within this good 12 month period.. leaving the rest of his long and terrible time with us at a grand total of... 7.. 7 goals in his entire career with us before that. That is what he gets slated for. Not his current form.
Jelavic is having a very bad patch compared to the start he had... However he is currently sitting on 15 premiership goals in total and has been with us for less than 2 years... You think Anichebe is better? Do you think in the next 5 years Jelavic won't get more than the 1 goal that equals Vic's time with us?
This season in which Anichebe is getting universally fapped over he has 5 goals, Jelavic who is widely panned has 6 including one at Spurs who are at least up with us and massively better than the cr*p Anichebe scores against.
Having said that Big Vic is the only one who seems able to score against these average teams so to be honest I am glad we have both right now as long as one is on form.
He's i the form of his life by some distance, but even so he's still not as good as people are making out. I don't however despair when he plays anymore and I am actually a little excited when he comes on and I never thought that would happen.
Fair play, he's won me around but I can't ignore his past because of his present, so he'll stick for how he was and praise for how he is.. as it should be.
Not on his back at all.
