I think it will be 4 matches, if its something daft then I reckon Moyes might be tempted to bring Cahill back.

I think it should be 3, would understand if it was 4 but anything more will just confirm my opinion that the FA do not, in fact, know what the _fook they are doing.

No excuse, but I'm sick and tired of seeing Fellaini being grabbed in a bear hug at every dead ball situation.....come on refs grow a pair and start awarding penalties when this is happening in the box, and you won't have players taking the law into their own hands!

If there is a chance of asking for a personal hearing and being able to face West Ham I'd like to think Moyes would take it.

Meaning he'd miss Wigan and Chelsea at home and then the window opens up any maybe Moyes can do something then.

Also, he'd miss Newcastle for a three game ban and, if milky is right, it is a four game ban then the fourth game would be the third round FA Cup game against Cheltenham.

i'm probably biased, but the Mail hit the nail on the head imo.

If anyone thinks Fellaini 'headbutted' (i say that loosely, cos if it had been a proper headbutt, Shawcross would have needed hospital treatment).....Shawcross for no reason then they are mistaken. It will have been Stoke's usual rough **** tactice during the game that had got him wound up. Granted Fellaini should keep his cool, however, if the panel need to look at this incident retrospectively, then they need to look at the WHOLE game and see what led up to this happening, because imo, the referee has obviously missed an AWFUL LOT for it to come to breaking point with this incident..

This is true, it should be a case of did the ref see the headbutt... if not three match ban. If yes, but didn't think it looked as bad as it was (and it wasn't a fully blown head butt anyway) move onto the next three match banable incident. They'll be sure the ref will say he missed one of them. Its not like he is going to say, yeah I saw all three and thought nothing of it, they were playing stoke you know!

But once its a retrospective red that is it, he isn't on the pitch to do anything else. Barton got what he did because he'd been sent off and then acted violently to another player.

Fact of the matter is, look at some of the things players, shawcross included, have done to other players. Fellaini might have been stupid, but there wasn't a mark on the player.

Whatever Fellaini gets, he probably deserves. BUT Shawcross was pushing the envelope and they need to define exactly what is and what is not allowed to take place in the box. I'll wait and see. Fellaini being gone will suck no matter how long.

i think if Felli has a shaved head, you would see there's not a whole lot of contact......but the big hair makes it look alot worse......that said the intent was there, and it was stupid......once a player hits out, even if he makes no contact at all, he knows he's gonna get sent off (or should be sent off).......

the frustrating thing is.....Felli did much less against Man City, and was punished with a peno......while Jags was pulled back at the same time by i think lescott (and the ref didn't see that).......
the standard of refs is so poor.....
Shawcross should have conceded 2 or 3 penos atleast on saturday........and thats not even mentioning the amount of times felli had his ankles kicked when the ball was played up to his feet.......

Four matches and no more. The FA are incapable of common sense though so don't be surprised if it's double figures.

Am I the only one deeply concerned here that the only news outlets handling the "3 or 9 match ban" issue with any sort of sense are the daily mail and talk sport?

When Lawro got his rednosed spectacles in a twist on Saturday he said that the Fellaini headbutt was made worse because he looked at the ref before doing it to see if he could get away with it...

On the contrary Fellaini had looked plaintively at the ref.. as he did on the "elbow/nutt" incident... as if to say... ref, really, you're not going to do anything?

I think on those two occasions he was being fouled.  In his mind he's thinking "I got done for pen against city and the ref is giving me nothing here" and the red mist has descended...

The official FIFA rules state that Shawcross n Huth can use wrestlin tactics to defend every cross n corner without conceding a pen cos its Stokes way but anything doled back to em by way of headbutts, elbows or slaps should also be viewed as fair play.
"well he (Shawcross) does have a very sockable face n deserves everything he gets" Sepp Blatter.
