September 2011 I actually went to read a bit as to how this all started. Apparently a few years ago they signed a player who was still officially under contract with another club. All sorts happened with it which ended up with the player being banned for four months and Sion having a transfer embargo for one year. Sion appealed this ban at a swiss court and got it overtuned by them but Fifa said the courts can't do that and didn't recognise it as being overtuned.

And now for some reason two years later having fielded players in the Europa league that were signed during this transfer embargo they've been kicked out.

Its a wierd because according to the wikipedia article I read, the player was allowed to buy out his contract with his initial club but then went back to that club after the whole fuss about it as if he never did in the first place.
