11blue said:Personally, I think that deep down the club wanted to keep him, but as soon as Rooney wanted to go they had no problem in selling him. I think the club knew that the best thing would be to sell him but they wanted to hold on for as long as they could, but as soon as he said himself that he wanted to move they used that as an excuse for selling him as they knew that they had to.
