Moyes contract

    Anyone else feeling a little frustrated with Moyes and the public contact saga, I think it is a little disrespectful to a club who has offered him a platform to grow as a manager and enhance his reputation. He is very well paid and has the run of the club and under very little pressure. Where my frustration comes from is the fact the contract offers us the security of compensation if someone comes in for him. With him being on £4 million a year I am pretty sure that would be a nice amount!!!

    ithink moyes is holding a gun to the boards head which i think is a good thing now, he wants more help to close the gap a little on top 4, and if the moneys not made available in january to help him achieve that he will be off in the summer, my one concern is that if nobody better comes in for moyes with a good job offer, and the board offer him a huge wage rise im sure that will keep him here regardless of what money he has to spend, then we will end up with a manager without much motivation, if the moneys not given to moyes he wants then let him go dont keep him here by offering him bigger wages.

    Yes, understand that..... Just not sure what that will achieve!! He takes plenty out if the club himself!!!! Unless someone is sold, will there be much money?! Hasn't the revenue money been mortgaged anyway?!

    Interesting times ahead. I agree with cjohno- it is a good thing that Moyes is in a position to put pressure on the owners to invest in success. If they lose their bottle, we will be faced with the need to recruit another, possibly inferior manager, who is prepared to operate on a tight budget. Back to where we were pre-Moyes, in other words, to the detriment of the potential sale value of the club. If, on the other hand, they bite the bullet and take a punt on the money coming back through CL revenues, then we are in for a treat. Blue Bill and his cronies have a dilemma- gamble or lose.

    Is the club really for sale?! Potential investors only seem to appear during the dark times, season/half ticket renewal, etc. I don't believe Moyes plays hardball with them at all. What job is really out there for him?! He isn't exactly in a bad position, what will make the board dip in their own pockets and invest in a business that needs it to grow? They haven't before and they won't! It will achieve nothing! Just sign the contract and if Utd, Chelsea or whoever comes in. The club gets a bit of 'compo'!! Everytime we have needed players to go the next level, we get nothing and how much money would we need to make a serious threat? I don't believe we make the most with the players we have here. Last night we needed a change at around 65-70 minutes and we bring Hitzelberger on rather than someone with a bit of energy to push the game, close Arsenal down when they had the ball. Same with Norwich, things needed to be changed when Jelavic was tired and it didn't happen.... Moyes is great, but needs to look at himself too!!!!

    Psycho asked if the club is for sale- who knows? It makes a loss, averaging £5m per year, IIRC- so the only reason for holding the shares is if the value of the club is expected to increase. This is likely, as PL revenues will rise with the ongoing increase in sales to China, USA and the Middle and Far East. For his £3m/year salary, Moyes has presided over a considerable improvement in the performance of the team, so he is valuable. He is now in a position to force the owners' hands. A bit.

    How can Moyes build a team iff when he unearths agood player he is sold, it looks like it could be Baines or Fellani this time, while the board sit on their fat arses instead of going out and finding some funds or a buyer, Iff i was Moyes i would say stick that im off

    Would you not prefer Barkley to inject energy into Midfield rather than Hitzelberger who gave the ball away a lot and had poor control. if Barkley isn't getting any game time after playing a lot at Sheffield Wednesday, why bring him back?!

    Barkley? In that case, we have no defensive midfielder at all. Against Arsenal, you have a midfield of:

    Oveido....barkley....Osman....-Pienaar

    against Arsenal

    No doubt about it....we lose that game!

    This is correct and the owners of the club know it. Losing Moyes will be a bad risk to the long-term value of the club. They have to invest, otherwise they are risking a worse loss.

    How many clubs are splashing serious money these days? Man City reigned it in, the RS are looking at youth, etc. Would Moyes have had the same time and control at many other clubs? There has been a show of faith for him too. Our problem will be commercial revenue, we make little on match days, facilities are poor and it takes an age to get anything at half time! There needs to be a little more innovation in making money! There were over 37,000 people there last night, how many bought something!!? I agree with some of the points you make, just don't believe things will change, so not sure what it will gain !! They won't throw their own cash at the club!
