"Chelsea sound out Rafael Benítez for short-term fix after Juventus defeat"

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/nov/21/chelsea-rafael-benitez-roberto-di-matteo

"Chelsea have sounded out Rafael Benítez to determine his willingness to take over on a short-term contract should they decide to dispense withRoberto Di Matteo as manager in the coming days.

The Italian saw his team humiliated by Juventus, a defeat that leaves his side teetering on the brink of elimination from the Champions League. Although Di Matteo insists he will stay and fight for his position, the fact that the club are looking at potential replacements will be unnerving, with the former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola the first choice if he can be persuaded to return to work having stated he wanted a year-long sabbatical last May."

they must be getting desperate. or is Roman  Abramovich the clubs real problem?

    Definitetly Abramovich is the problem.....

3 league titles , 3 FA cups, 2 league cups ana Champions league.

Half the trophies that they have won in their entire history have come under Roman......

You exceed yourself with every post you make.

Just had that exact converstation here at work.

We reckon only a few managers would actually want it to genuinely enhance their reputation by winning things.

Most would be happy to take the job in the knowledge that regardless of how bad they do they are guaranteed a big pay off when they go...anything they win in the meantime is a bonus.

When the price of failiure is millions of pounds, the job itself becomes by and large meaningless. It's the same as going into a boxing ring, being punched out inside 30 seconds but still getting a million pound purse. Or in a non sport, being director of a company that goes to the wall but still taking a massive redundancy/bonus package.

    Exactly mate.

Guardiola is obviously a name being banded about. Would he enhance or ruin his reputation ?

Walks in not long before being given kazillions in january looking like a saviour ?

Intresting .. Dont know if mourinhos kids have lived with him but his daughter has just signed up for uni a few hundred yards from stamford bridge.

    Too right I would!
Cut all of the players wages then fist them all, until they preform really well..... And I don't mean on the pitch ;)

I heard this too and the the comment that went with it was "he won't let his daughter move to London on her own" i think it was last night in the build up to the game?

Be funny if Rafa got it though, pretty sure the rs fans would love that!

the thing is they keep sacking managers that have won trophies or moved the club forward.(.exept scolari and avb)..it seems to be working for them as most their managers have been a success..weird stuff! :-?
