He replies "I've got no shoes". The guy with no shoes walks past him and carries on further down the road, until he sees a man in a wheelchair. He asks " why are you crying?" his reply "I've got no feet"
The moral of the story is, never moan at what you haven't got, because so many people in this world really are suffering. I think this saying can be used in all aspects of life, but for everton supporters I think it's relevant because , like the guy with wrong sized shoes and no shoes, we need to carry on and be grateful for what we have got. It could be so much worse.

A good point, but just try and imagine the time when this motto was introduced. Did it represent greed and cheating?Did it represent paying to win trophies like city and chelsea, and having an unfair advantage over any other team? I don't think it ever did. I believe that it represents an attitude whereby every player in the team should give their best in every game, go the extra inch and have a never say die attitude. By playing like this and generally living your life like this, you are effectively nothing but the best, because you are willing to go furhter than your opponents and will achieve more than those who are less committed. That's how I view it, we're all different but that's just my outlook.

I must admit, I like this view on the motto. It does put a different spin on how its meaning is generally viewed.
I think your right in one perspective that the motto did not repesent greed or money for trophies.
However, do you go to watch Everton because the club don't invest money on new, better players?
Do you watch Everton on occasions when they lose and smile with a thought that people in the world are worse off?
I personally watch Everton because I want to see them win, this is a competition after all. Football unfortunately does require money to compete these days. Compete being the opperative word.
One could also ask, did this motto represent dishonesty? I put it in the same category as cheating.

Can I please ask you to explain why you think BK controls our money? He openly said in the 'taped' meeting that he doesn't know, has no idea what the £24m of other operation cost are. He actually said, and I quote “Guys, I do not run the football club…the chairman doesn’t run the football club".
If 'he' is controlling the clubs money so well then why did he have to give the banks a document saying they can't stop us from trading and asking them 'not to kill us this season'?
I'm not having a pop at your opinion, I'm just asking you to explain why you think he controls the money well? What reason do you have for believing this? When we are the only club in all the leagues who don't have a penny to spend.
I totally agree with your analogy of nothing but the best and I too wouldn't want to succeed if it meant cheating. I don't condone Man C or Chelseas way of getting to the top at all.
I would like to see the motto reflected back onto the club however, in a honest way. I like the attitude of the playing staff inc Moyes and I don't want primadonnas at this club either!
I would like the honesty policy to flow through the backroom staff, ie the board because I for one am yet to see this!
I would like someone to prove me wrong and turn my negative outlook into a positive one and I invite anyone (without insulting me) to do this because all I see is dishonesty and as much as the motto may have stood for anything other than cheating and buying silverware, it also didn't stand for dishonesty.
The Kings Dock money was ringfenced?
We won't sell Rooney, even for 50m?
Fortress Sports Fund?
Goodison would fail its safety inspection?
Park End Project?
We are not a sellling club?
The club is for sale? (Not according to Elstone)
We have manangeable debt?
Moyes will get 5m a season to spend?
Watch this space?
I guess the question is, would you rather have silverware bought or lies and no silverware?
