Everton are for sale..... at £100 million??

The Mail on Sunday are suggesting that Everton are indeed for sale!!!! :)
    Valued at £100 million!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

I for one have never rejected the claim from the board that Everton are for sale, my belief has always been that it is the asking price putting off potential owners, not the fact that no owners exist and the truth will out eventually.

Everything has a price... including Everton!

    Before shooting me down for 'believing a newspaper' and not having faith in the 'blue bill' board, ask yourself two questions please;

Why won't blue bill tell us what he values the club at, not even the BU members at the secret meeting? Yet he told them everything else?

Would you buy a house worth £100,000 for £300,000? My guess is, the owners of that house would have you believe that no potential owners exist. Of course they exist, they just walk right past the advertisement for that particular house and move onto the one in Blackburn, Manchester City or QPR resulting in no interest being shown in that particular house.

The mail is a rag to start with.

Secondly is that what it will cost them, or what the shareholders will receive?  Is that for all the shares once they've hit the threshold for a takeover, or just for 51%, or just for Blue Holding's shares?

Does that include Kenwright demanding that any new owner clears the debt, which is the only real benefit of a takeover?

There are so many things that can be factored into the cost of buying the club.  Kenwright, rightly, will sell it to someone who he thinks will improve our lot.  I don't think he's a greedy man, or he'd be taking money from his role, and if he sells he will get quite a few million either way.

It's not a telly, it's a football club, it doesn't have a direct off the shelf price.

There are so many if's and but's.That's why kenwright and Co should be more transperant and come out and say what the asking price is. Usually if you are serious about selling anything you put a realistic price that reflex condition and market trends. If the asking price is set above market value then they are not really being serious about selling the club.

FROM YOUR ANALOGY 100,000 TO 300000 YOUR PUTTING THE CLUB VALUE AT 33 MILLION. ARE YOU SERIOUS ? ADD THE TOTAL VALUE OF PLAYERS POTENTIAL TRANSFER FEES THE GROUND THAT WE OWN AND MINUS OUR DEBT ! ID SAY 100 MILLION IS A FAIR PRICE ! IF THE POTENTIAL NEW OWNERS CANT AFFORD 100 MILLION WOULD THERE BE A POINT GETTING TAKEN OVER BY THEM ?

birmingham was sold for 80 million & they are a poor side with smaller fanbase who got relegated , though they won carling cup that was after the sale.

so i think 100 million is fair price but like everything for sale , its only worth what a prospective buyer will pay or you end up with no buyer if your price is higher than their evaluation.

I totally disagree, naming a price is counterproductive.

This 100mil is complete guesswork, there is no proof, no research behind it, they just made up a number.

This is what the paper put...
"Chairman Bill Kenwright has put a £100m price tag on Everton despite
their precarious finances. At least one serious potential buyer has
walked away from a Goodison deal, believing the asking price is too high
    with Everton £40m in debt."

    Shocking journalism.

Its only shocking if its untrue, otherwise its printing facts. None of us are in a position to categorically deny the stories accuracy.

It's a lie because......?? Because blue bill didn't say it himself? Or maybe because Everton have moved to deny this?

I suspect if it's not true, blue bill will threaten legal action like he did against the BU..... Surely???

I suspect that if Bill or any other chairman was to threaten legal action for every untruth said about their club they would have nothing left for anything else in their lives......Surely???

Anybody who knows this to be a lie, please state what the true figure is, as you know its not 100 million, you clearly know what the actual sum is. Come on, spit it out.

The asking price is only a guide

I would happily offer 90mill if i had it.

i think it would be a bad move to come out with an asking price when trying to sell a football club. Mainly because all the variables like share price, interest rates, on field asset value and debt etc, go up and down quite a lot. Look at all the trouble mike Ashley had when he put Newcastle on the market after they went down.....he came out with a price and whatever interest that buyers might of had, went out the window.
its not like selling a house because, short of getting a survey done, what you see is what you get. to put a club on the market with an asking price would also require you to include in the ''add'' all the financial ins and outs and, we all know how that story goes....

It's the one thing he will not state or confirm and other than personal issues, it's the one thing he requested from the BU members before the secret meeting. Yes ONE thing he doesn't want to discuss... not even in a 'secret' meeting in which he said some damning things.
So I would suspect out of all the 'untrue' things said about him, this would be the ONE thing he would want to threaten legal action with don't you???

Why would he want to threaten legal action ? they haven't slandered him in any way shape or form ?

why would he want to put the price in the "public" domain ?

why would he want to tell 3 total strangers in a "secret" meeting his private business ?

is uggest he only wants to discuss it with potential buyers..dont you ?

Howdy, Stranger!
