The problem with our squad (yes, it's what you think)

If you thought "Neville" you'd be correct. Yes, because he is old and makes mistakes but also:

Neville in midfield allows Fellaini to push up. Wonder why Jelavic hasn't been scoring goals? I thought it was just an unlucky spell. Now I've realised what's actually wrong. He's playing with Fellaini. Last season, when he was being supported by his CF and not working with him, he was banging them in for fun.

Fellaini back in a CDM role allows us to dominate the midfield and not lose possession (like Neville is doing), thus putting the defence under pressure and giving away easy goals. Putting someone like Naismith as our CF allows Jelavic to get the support he needs to score goals.

All we'd need to do then is replace Osman with an actual playmaker, like Arteta. Gibson would do but he's injury prone.

could push Osman forward when Gibson is back as well.

I'm sorry, so you're saying that Fellaini shoud be back in a defence role... tha'st just crazy talk, he's a much better forward play then he has ever been a defence player, he's playing the best football a have ever seen him play.

Osman's also been playing great football, playing very wisly of late. your only valid point is Phil Neville is getting on a bit, I hope Gibson will be back soon, and less injury prone, so Phil can take a rest. He still has a lot of offer the team.

Fellaini is great forward, yes, but when he's forward Jelavic suffers and the midfield suffers. It's not worth it. With him back in CDM it strengthens the midfield and Jelavic will start scoring again.

Osman is playing well but he's not playing well enough. He doesn't play the killer pas that we need. We need a playmaker.

spot on, great post, and btw, all this biz about Neville being "old" hes a youngster compared to Giggs and Scholes, both of whom still have a lot to offer !

Giggs and Scholes are past it and that's why United were slipping up last season. They were not replaced with anyone younger. They are great technically but physically they can't compete.

I said still have a lot to offer, not play every match 90 mins, both have played a part in some of uniteds best performances, then again, I suppose 26 is middle age to you and 30 old and ready for the knackers yard !

Nope. 30 is when many players reach their prime.

Compare them to Neville. They often start on the bench and are used as tactical substitutions this season. Neville is a starter week in and out. He shouldn't be.

I'm quite possibly the best player in my league and I'm 39.

And most of the people at the Stockport over 50's , blind, no legs , asthmatic league agree.

Would like to see us trying this suggesation, Naismith up front with his old partner Jelavic, and Felli dropping back to improve the defensive side of our mid, and improve distribution from the midfield. I think this could be our best formation, with Gibson/Hilltsberger alongside (both have great shots on them when they push forward aswell). Leaveing out Neville, no complaint, and Ossie, sorry but i think Gibson/Hilltsberger are better options when fully fit

Someone else who sees sense! Let's try it against Reading. We're at home and they're arguably the worst team in the league. Surely it can't go wrong?

lets see, each time Fell puts a foot in, 75% of the time comes out giving a free kick away and 65% getting a yellow card (80% of all statistics are made up on the stop). Anyways, Jel is being almost man marked, and he's not the most gifted of players with the ball or passing, and need a big guy there to help, personally i feel that would sult Jel's game is pull defender out leaving him, with what he is good at, finding space and scoring goals.

Fellaini and Jelavic can't both score goals. It's one or the other. Fellaini always wins the ball in the air and is a wall when it comes to passing him. He's more useful in midfield.

Seriously........... I don't care where the goals come from as long as they come........

    I would love to see......

    Pienaar ... Left centre
    Oviedo .....Left mid
    Baines .....Left back
    Neville ......Left the **** out.

I know that if results start going against us some will all be clamouring for his return........ I won't care two fucks if I don't see him again ever in midfield.

Howdy, Stranger!
