    gerrard is a disappointed man. he's in the declining period of  his career. he is not the player he was before his injury and he realizes that he's never gonna win the league with lfc.

    sour grapes compounded by recognition that his time is up for any significant trophy, very sad.

    i think somebody in the club has said " look Steve, if don't retract the comment, the FA are going to be all over us, and we're going to end up with egg on our face after Stoke out play and win, so please do the right thing and say sorry"

    Gerrard is a great player, anybody that says other wise, does't know football, however, is he one of the sneakiest players i have seen, take the derby game,  and the "offside" goal, there was no way that ozz's challenge was a foul, Gerrard knew he was in a good position and seen ozzy looking at the ball and waited for ozzy the run into him and fell over.

    cant wait for gerred to finish up his football, then lets see what liverpool are as a team.

    Don't think he is being honest about why he said it and why he is backtracking. . Him and Suarez suit a direct stye and are there most effective players when they do, but Rodgers mission means Stevie G doesnt get a chance to lump it into the box and chase in. He has said he wants to stay but can only see decline in rest of his career as Liverpool knock the ball nervously along the back four to no effect. Thought they had won after cheating his way to a free kick and showing the manager how its done with a big kick into the box and a knock down. Classic Stoke. Embarrassed to f u c k and like a ten year old kid just lashed out. Then realised not just how stupid he sounds but that he has a dug a hole that means they got to tap it across the back four for the rest of the season. Hates the manager but can't say it, hates us but knows we are better.

    I think Gerrard is thinking about his England career when he backtracks like this.

    The stats speak for themselves. I, for one, didn't need him to tell me he was wrong.

    Always was and always will be - cheating, sneaky, underhanded scum pretending to be a decent guy. Loved his sad rant...shows how frustrated he is! Only thing missing in our progression is a win over them .....would one of our guys decking him in the 90th minute of the same game be asking too much?
