Always wanted to give Billy a chance but everytime he lets us down, today he started off pretty well i thought, but time and time again he looks like he doesnt know whats going on or know what he should be doing... i mean we were on the counter attack in the second half and what does he do?? squares it to knobody instead of taking it alone... For me its time for him to go, surely Drenthe will take his place IF he proves he has it, but im sure he has.

He's an attacking midfielder, not a winger. I don't blame him, I blame Moyes for playing him out of position. He's brilliant for Russia behind the strikers.

blame moyes?? are you joking, the lad is a professional footballer, his performances should be better and he should be able to play out there being left footed etc, no excuse

Came on against Ireland in the 2nd half last week on the left, missed a sitter. He needs a run of games but he won't get them so let him off ta fu@k

I have always wanted to see more of Billy but going to my first game at goodison today, sitting close to the left side during the first half, I was very disappointed with him. He didn't challenge, didn't close down and always took a too easy solution when he got the ball. He was lazy going back not covering for Bains when he went forward. In addition he and Bains didn't seem to have a good relationship. Maybe he is better in the middle as he preferred to go in to the centre when the ball was on the left side, removing options on the flank.

Drenthe looked good, had a very good attitude during the half time warm-up and from the opposite site it looked like had a good game when he came on. Think he can be a good signing and maybe Billy could get a chans in the central midfield.

i dont think billy wants to be here-let him go back to russia he isnt cut out for the prem!
we would have been better of starting Barkley even though he is a bit young to be starting every game yet.
Once Drenthe is fully match fit Billy will be back on the bench.

untill i see billy get a run of games in his proper position, i will reserve my judgement om him, when will moyes realise like us all hes a player who needs to be behind a striker, hes not a central midfielder his tackling and covering isnt good enough, but moyes prefers othe rplayers in this position so dont think we will ever see best of him, moyes sees him everyday in training so i suppose you got to trust his judgement.

Agree 100% with comment #1 and the first part of comment #2.  The rest is rubbish.  In fact most of the stuff I read on this forum is rubbish, but I digress.
In pre season when he was put in the middle he looked very dangerous, he was quick and in his element.  Why not give him a chance in his natural position.  The lad has goals in him which is more than can be said of most.

Well, wingers have a totally different role than slot players. As a winger you are to a certain degree closed off from your goalgetting instincts. Your role is primary setting up others, with a few run outs filling up at the back post. From what I`ve seen of him, he is in his right element in a more direct role, with a licence to rifle of shots and get in to goal scoring positions. Moyes play him in a role that leaves more room for his weaknesses than abilities. A waste of talent really. Quite dissapointed of moyes use of his big signings. No wonder a team of our "weaker" players outperforms our best starting 11.
