The Derby...

Posts: 19,509October 2012 They say that form goes out the window in the derby... I think that is only true of us... If the RS are on form then they tend to carry that into the game... and beat us... It is us that typically come a cropper...Lets be honest, this season has been good for us... Yes it could have been better... We've seen some great performances... Some mediocre... Been cheated by decisions... All told, our league position is good and it doesn't lie in the sense that we certainly shouldn't be any lower...We now have a couple of injuries and a suspension to contend with... but isn't that what the league is about... dealing with things that are thrown at you... If you deal with them you succeed...So, the truth... I just cannot see us winning on Sunday... Whatever it is in the psychology of the game.. the RS have us licked... Last season is a prime example of that... Don't get me wrong... I'd love us to hammer them... But I just don't have confidence in us against them... I just don't think DM knows how to get the best in the derby... Hope I'm wrong... Got it off me chest now...

I agree mate. been thinking all weekend about this. We are very light in the middle of the park without fellaini & gibson. Hopefully fellaini will be available and gibson too however his fitness may be an issue. Ossie has a lot of fans on here but i cannot see where he fits into the team effectively. Defensively we are ok but have looked exposed in past few games without gibson and with fellaini playing further up the pitch.Just for the derby, f hibbert is fit i would play him right back and coleman in front of him. Dont think Ovideo would be up for this type of game.........................Howard................................Hibbert (if fit)...jags.....Distin....bainesColeman....Fellaini (if fit)...Gibson (if fit)...Mirillas......................Victor..........................Yelly................I have a funny feeling we are going to be looking at neville in the middle again though -

It's funny how when you look at it, when we had a much worse Everton team at the very start of the PL years, we were doing much better in the derby. For the first 7 years of the PL, we won a derby almost every year. Even a couple at Anfield. Then, since the Millenium, we have won only 3 in the PL and none at Anfield.
Are we not being as dogged as we were back then.....or is our mentailty such that we are uncomfortable when some people actually give us a chance? -

Get over your inferiority complex.......& go there with winning on your mind. Nothing else.

Posts: 7,525October 2012 The reason we sound so defeatist before derby matches is obvious, "An if yer know yer History", we always seem to play against 12 men or we get reduced in numbers on the pitch, in other words the FEKIN REF IS ALWAYS A RS...........
