Everton next captain?

So far this season I think its fair to say that Neville has been pretty poor, especially when playing in a central role. He looks completely off pace, he can't tackle and doesn't offer much going forward. He would be good to have on the bench or perhaps as cover for right back only but he is a good captain and is very vocal on the pitch.

Who should be our next captain?

Jags it has to be. Think people should lay off Neville a bit, think he has been a great captain and player for us. He is not a Zidane but he is inspirational for the lads and never hides or goes missing in games. He has always given his all for our club and has been very important for us. I think our central midfield is a little light especially with Felli and Gibbo out. Oman is a forward thinking player but too soft in the tackle and lacks pace. Overall we should be happy with our start, really hope the lads are in magnificent form Sunday. A big merseyside win could inspire us even more.

I actually think it should be Baines, he is the leading light of the team, he pushes us on with his actions more than words admittedly but he is really coming into his own with the media etc the season, also he takes the responsibility of set pieces and penalties in particular which shows his leadership qualities and of course anyone who watched sprint for the ball after he scored against Wigan will agree he has a huge desire to win for this club.

It will most likely be Jags as most teams use centre halfs/mids as captains as they usually have the battling spirit to throw their bodies on the line in defence but as we are a different type of team now i'd like it to be a creative player who lead us

agree with beano that it doesn't (or shouldn't) matter....these guys are all grown men doing a very well paid job....and we have plenty of characters in our team right now.......so none of them should have to be looking over their shoulder for advice from phil Neville (who's the worst player in our team anyways).....Moyes does plenty of talking from the sidelines, Jags or distin should be organising the backline, and everything else should take shape by all players just talking to each other out there....

jagielka does a good job of marshaling the defence.

i reckon he should be our next captain.

there are times during a match when a whole squad might want to be organized, so that role is really important. Boost the spirit, get 'em aware of what's goin on, connect the players, etc.

    Gibson for captain?
