D.Mail: "Moyes  "David Moyes thanked Wayne Rooney for helping shape his managerial reputation and predicted an Everton comeback for the England striker.

The Everton manager launched Rooney to international fame a decade ago by sending him on as a late substitute five days before his 17th birthday and seeing him curl a last-minute winner against Arsenal.

Moyes said: 'I have always believed Wayne helped me as a manager. I'll always be grateful he was here, ready to break into the team, when I arrived."

    WILL HE?

Last minute? My memory must be crap I thought it was about 75 minutes in and then he near scored an even better lob on about 85?

    You're right Sam

It doesn't say anything about him coming back.

Might as well have said we are signing messi cos moyes said he's good.

    The article said this:

'Rooney was sold to Manchester United for £25.6million eight years ago, but Moyes said: 'I would certainly welcome Wayne back. It's more likely to be later in his career but I think it is something even he would welcome.''

That sounds like an invitation to me, but I am a dreamer. Rooney has won it all at manure, and it does not look as if they will win anything else soon. He looks disaffected, as if the enthusiasm has gone, as if he needs a new challenge. How long has he got on his existing contract- three years?

I can see him taking a 170k cut in his wages to put on the blue of Everton again coz he's not a greedy tw4 t but a loyal bluenose. Once a blue always a blue..........................Think he'll be 39 and Walter Smith will be caretaker Manager by then......

What a load of cr4p in the papers these days........

seems lke a fantasy, but is he going to get offered a new contract on that kind of money anywhere. He isn't a stella name for the likes of Madrid any more . would need Fergie gone, Rooney to stand up to his agent, bit of imagination from Everton board,.still probably a fantasy....bad news would be that we may have to pay ourselves for international appearances

he'll come back when he's in his thirties, its clear he is only at United for the money after his little spat a few years ago led to a wage rise.

If he is willing to take a massive drop in wages and play for his boyhood club then there is not a lot United can do about it he can leave on a free when his contract is up just wish he had the balls to do it.

It would be pretty exciting seeing him in blue but I just don't see him leaving Manu anytime soon at all.
