Steak... up there with curries as the mightiest of men food. Just cooked a decent one tonight.... it's all personal opinion and preference but what's the best steak you've had/how do you cook yours?

Tonights attempt was medium rare rump, 3 mins on each side in the pan on a medium/high heat, with onion/mushroom/black pepper gravy and some mexican seasoned wedges.

    food of kings.

oh and leave the steak wrapped in tin foil for about 5 mins after cooking to stand - was a tip someone gave me which seems to do no harm, meant to make the steak more tender

gotta agree with the ribeye rare to medium with plenty of seasoning and a decent herb butter

    the sides should be minimal

but a nice dauphinoisse goes well

Tonight I had a 12oz fillet steak, medium rare with home made chips, tobacco onions with peppercorn.

My favourite meal in the world bar none. though I actually prefer a ribeye or a sirloin.

I had a piece of rump the other week with a blue cheese sauce, chips, onion rings and mushrooms which hit the spot, but I think it was the blue cheese sauce I was mostly pleased with. The steak wasn't too bad but it was slightly over done.

As for the best steak, you can't go wrong with a medium rare T-Bone steak. Absolute heaven.
