Expectations gone through the roof ?

was walking out of the DW stadium saturday listening to the blues comments...

TBH i think our expectation levels are too high at the moment and some people do expect us to win all games now..this time last year a draw there would have been a good point...now it's we've dropped 2 points...Me personally i'm more than happy with how it's gone so far and long may it continue..but dont expect so much every game..it's nice for once to have high expectations but keep them realistic is my advice...

Bottom line was martinez did his homework..especially first half..they bullied us out of the game and looked the better side...they spent all week "working" on the oficials and all first half cancelling out fellaini....and the officials got suckered in.....and they cancelled out fellaini because of it..

take nothing away from wigan....they did a job on us and nearly got away with it...when we started playing in the second half and stopped moaning it looked a different team...

so come on blues keep playing the footy on the deck. and to fans keep giving your support but reign in the expectation level a bit...

My expectations are not that high but any lower than 4th would be a disappointing.

all due respect mate, i know you know your football but when has a point at Wigan ever been a "good" point, their sh!te mate, we should have beaten them in second gear. We are a team pact with international players a point there is a minimal requirement.

Wigan brought a in your face tempo to the game, Martinez, as you rightly point out, did his homework and asked his players to deny us any space to play in, but we still should of won the game with the players we have.

As a side note though,  what did you think of Kone?

their 2 front players caused us problems all day...kone's movement, strength and pace was a problem Dosanto's height and strength complimented him great...

which is why your comment "but when has a point at Wigan ever been a "good" point, their sh!te mate".... now doesn't stack up. Earlier this season and last year i'd have agreed with you..but these will improve and wont be the "pushover team" they've always been anymore...

i can see a mid table finish for these this year...

i thought we did decent again on saturday.......remember if not for poor officiating we would have won the game....which would have continued our really good away form......

we won't always have it our own way, and wigan can be a good team.......

like you say expectations do probably have to be reigned in abit.......and if we want to continue to see everton playing a more open adventerous style (and i know i do), then we have to expect we are gonna have games where we conceed alot of goals too.......as much as i see us beating a team 4 or 5 nil pretty soon, i can also see us conceeding 4 or 5 goals in a game pretty soon too.....

its sad that we've already had 4 points taken off us by officials (newcastle & wigan)...seems like we're being punished for daring to challenge the top 4....for me that's the only disappointing thing about the season so far.....
But anyone being critical of the team right now needs their head examined….4th in the league after 7 games, deserve to be 2nd, playing the most entertaining football in the league, and the most entertaining football Everton have played in a long long long time…….Fans need to start enjoying this

    couldn't agree more NSNO...

some of the comments walking out the ground were "comical" to say the least...
one of the best was...."Moyes selecting heitinga over disitin was a disgrace... does he know what he's doing"...did he say that the week before when we beat soton 3-1 ??

our sloppy defending is a concern...one of the stalwarts of moyes reign is our reluctance to concede...yet we seem not have the right balance just yet, this term...i love the attacking football we are now playing but the balance of defending has to be right too..

i think that re balance will come with gibson back in central midfield ....

Ha i know what you mean reading that back but by mentioning their one player of real note doesn't make them a team that are not there to be beaten i just really rate him i watched him a bit over the last couple of seasons in la liga and thought he was quality. I disagree about Wigan being mid table though i thought they played at a level well above themselves and won't play better than they did in the first half all season, that was a cup final for them and they played like it.

When we're beating teams like Man United, then you do really expect us to a job at Wigan who are one of the most inconsistent teams the prem has ever seen. Make no mistake they came out the blocks the sharpest but when you get back level that quickly you have to go and win the game. Heitinga was garbage and the final ball wasnt good enough.

by that logic you would bexpect us to beat everyone expect Man City....football doesn't work that way....by the way, Man Utd couldn't win at wigan end of last season when the title was their's to win.....

Not atall, but its frustrating when we do well against the teams above us, and then cant get the results against teams down at the bottom.

Quite right, but on this occasion, it was unfortunately two points dropped. A point there, as you say, is still a good result, but thanks to poor officiating, it should have been 3 points gained.

you cant compensate though for poor officiating.....and you're always going to get it...however to be 1-0 then 2-1 down and then to get back into the game is a good response for me and i'm happy with the 1 point as it could of easily been 0 points for..... whatever reason...

I keep saying it. It's always one of 2 extreme's. We drop a few points and people can't see where the next win is coming from. We win a few games and people can't accept we won't always win games away against teams outside the top 6. Hardly ever any in-between, balanced views!

    Nice post Luke. :-)
We are having a great season so far and I'm proud of our guys for working as hard as they have. This was one game out of many and looking at the positive and not thinking about it being two points lost, but 1 more point than we had...it's all in how ya look at it.
