    George Orwell is famous as a novelist, for Animal Farm and 1984, but imo his essays are his greatest works. I first came across him in my teens and I have read everything he has written. He was an Eton boy, but very different from those that are running the country today.

    He was objective and brutally honest in his assessments and is even admired by the more intelligent conservatives.
