Just been looking at the squad list which was a tad depressing but I noticed the No.9 shirt is vacant, who was the last player to wear it? I think we must be holding on to it for a top striker in Janurary 2012, Oh well I can cross me fingers.....

It has been vacent for a while.

James Beattie in 2006/07 season i think was the last time it got given out. What a waste that was.

it was saha then he asked to have number 8 cos its his favourite number or something.

I like the fact that the club wont just had it out to anyone, shows it still means something!

and to be honest cant see us ever having another traditional number 9 in the latchford, royle mode, moyes wants his strikers to be work horses chasing down the full backs , chasing back etc, why players like beattie and yakubu dont work out, they just want to be in the box getting on the end of things and moyes wont have that.

i look on a number 9 for everton in the latchford ,sharp and royle types, cottee wasnt a taditional everton number 9.maybe hope a kid comes through and earns the number 9 maybe vellios will come good in a season or 2 and earn the shirt.

I am sorry. Even if a player better than Rooney came throught the ranks. Even if Messi or Ronaldo joined. I PERSONALLY FEEL THE NUMBER 9 SHIRT HAS TO BE EARNET. THE LAST PERSON I FEEL THAT SHOULD HAVE WORN THE SHIRT WAS FERGIE. NO ONE ELSE SINCE.

Knowing our budget we'll probably go for Jon Shaw from Gateshead. 7 goals this season and the conference's top scorer...SIGN HIM UP MOYES!
