Initially I thought it was just general inertia to change... The usual... It looks different I dont like it... But the more I scratch beneath the surface the more I dislike it... I admit some of the tabs etc are pretty handy but I think its the way in the past the tabs and folders for finding what you want were straight forward... whereas now they've tried to be too clever and tried to second guess which items you would want on your toolbar... which results in a mix of searching drop downs and folders and clicking on preset icons...

It feels natural to me. I probably don't use as much of it as you though.

I can see how such a change would be annoying when you had the older version down to pat. Having to relearn all that whilst trying to get work done would be a real waste of time.

Our Council is currently migrating from 2002 office via thick client to 2010 via thin client, and from Sharepoint 2007 to 2010 because of its greater connectivity and improved inter microsoft product software communications.... We were told..
    Nothing works anymore.

    I agree!! Frickin annoying!!!!

I'm hanging on to my 2003-2007 Word formats for as long as possible. Spend ages searching drop-down menus for something that used to be in your face.

If you don't have to use it - don't!!!!

I use the 2000 version. It is the only programme which makes me really mad. These are the things it does to make me throw an alehouse right-hander at the screen:

    1. Capitalises the first letter of a line. I cannot find an option to turn this off anywhere.
    2. If pasted text from another document has some formatting peculiarity, set up by some evil queer, I cannot get rid of it. Even if I delete all of it and start again, the "miss a line" or whatever remains.
    3. If a document is born with a certain font, and I want to use my bloody font, it reverts to the other f. font at every opportunity.

It's only a secretary's tool, for f. sake. Why should one have to memorise a seemingly infinite list of hidden complications, just to write f. text? I should employ a secretary, but no one would ever work for me. I am worse than Malcolm Tucker.
