Don't be fooled that you're ignorant BEG

    We are equally as bad.

Whereas you can tell different accents in the U.S to people here there's

    Italian New Yorker
    70's black dude
    Redneck
    Latino
American. ( that covers every other person in the United States )

    Ahahahahaha!
I pretty much fit into the "everyone else" category.

Despite being relatively miniscule compared to the US of A... regional differences in the UK are often marked... with different cultural traditions, accents and even dialects (perhaps none moreso than the scouse accent which differs greatly from towns mere miles away)...

Cultural differences can be seen in the musical and comedic input that cities such as Liverpool have contributed.

We have scousers (liverpool)/mancs (manchester)/geordies (newcastle)/cocknies (london) to name but a few (honourable mention for yorkshire - i'm willing to bet none of you would understand sam)...

Just putting that out there to help you understand this little island...

Says the man with 14 accents.....

I have to admit though it still puzzles me to this day when Tone said he couldnt understand a word i was saying.....this coming from a scouser!

I'm hoping someday when I come over, I'll get to hear all your accents and then can say....

I can understand some accents in the US, like Florida, New York, Texas, but for other states I'm not so good at picking up. And individual cities, like here it's easy to tell which is a Manchester, Liverpool or London accent, but I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between someone from Washington and someone from Chicago (examples)

I also took a while to pick up the difference between New Zealand and Australia, until I read the Australian FHM haha. Of all things to explain the difference(!)

And now I'm sort of getting my head around the Canadian and American accents......

America doesn't get many things right these days, but if you're going to try and improve a sport, do it right.  B-)

I work all day every day with Americans, mostly in Tennessee - but the people are origionally from all parts of the country. I have to say there's no US accent I can't understand...even the biggest hillbilly drawls.

They however have a problem with my Irish brogue now and again :)

Yep, not the deep south.  Technically Kentucky was a border/neutral state during the civil war.  Up north, people laugh at the way I/we talk.  However, you are right.  We do love our fried chicken.

I think you could break down American accents into northeast, south, Midwest and west. Though Minnesotans crack me the f_ck up. Ever seen Fargo?

The only nickname I can think of would be chowds (new England area folk)

Paak the caar in the backyaad
