Transfers/what Moyes and Kenwright should do

First of all, I would like to say hi to all of you regular forum readers. After reading the forums here for the last two weeks and ejoying some of your posts, I think it's about time I made my first post! :)

** Edit: For those who don't want to read a long post, see ** The short version, near the end.

The following is just my oppinion on what Moyes and Kenwright should be doing before the transfer window closes, so hopefully none of these suggestions are seen as flamebait. Also please forgive me for the length of this post :p

    (1) Sell Vic to Leicester. This should bring in £3 million. This move would be good for both us and Vic, as I think he probably needs to drop down a level in order to improve his game.

    (2) Reopen talks with Fenerbache, and accept their 2.5 or 3 million bid for Yobo (good move for him and gives us some money).

    (3) Try to sell the Yak to Leciester, a Turkish Club or possibly any of the up and comming clubs who can afford to meet his wage demands, ie. PSG, Malaga, Anzhi Makhachkala. He is just not performing for us right now, but I still think he has a lot to offer and a less competitive league would really suit him. We should aim to fetch between 5-6 million for him.

    (4) Sell Arteta to Villarreal. I think they were offering 8 million for him? This would give us some substantial money to play with and possibly give his career a new lease of life, as I feel he as hit the wall here at Everton.

    (5) We would now have 19-20 million to play with, and would have also freed up some wages!

    (6) Sign South Korean captian and striker: Chu-Young Park. Reports say that he is keen to play in England and we should make an offer before the red sh*te beat us to it. I know that he might not have any Premier League experience, but he's probably our best option up front with our limited funds. 5.5 - 6 million should do it.

    (7) Sign 20 year old left winger Lewis Holtby from German side Schalke 04. I think we could get him for 6 million. David Moyes has been keeping any eye on this promising young player for a while now. As an added bonus, Holtby is also an Everton fan!

    (8) We would now have 7-8 million left to play with - perhaps bring in Barton, agree to his wages and save the rest? Nevertheless, even without singing Barton we could still put together a formidible first team (given that we are not cursed with too many injuries this season).

I would put together the following team with positions and substitutions in brackets. : 4-4-2 formation.

    (GK) Howard (Mucha)

(RB) Hibbert (CB) Jags (Heightinga) (CB) Distin (Heightinga) (LB) Baines

    (DM) Fellaini (Rodwell)

    (RW) Coleman (LW) Holtby (Billy)
    (AM) Barkley (Cahill)

(ST) Saha (Gueye) (ST) Park (Beckford)

I think that this would be a stronger line-up than most of the other teames in the Premiership could put together (with the exception of ManUre, the Red Sh*te, Chelski and City). We would have enough fire power not to lose against teams like West Brom and Sunderland, and we could continue to beat teams like Chelski, City and Spurs.

I know in reality, making all of these changes is highly unlikely, due to Moyes reluctance to sell (no disrespect to Moyes, the man is a legend).

What do you guys think/ what changes would you make?

    **NB The short version:

    (1) Sell Yobo (3 mil), Arteta (8 mil), Yakubu (5-6 mil), Vic (3 mil)
    (2) Sign striker Chu-Young Park (5.5 mil), left winger Lewis Holtby (6 mil), and possibly Barton.
    (3) Start playing 4-4-2

    Oppinions/Suggestions?

hahahahahahahahaha! aND ON TOP OF THAT MATE, WE AINT GETTING 5-6 MILLION FOR yakubu, 5-6 quid maybe, not million, so there would be nothing to bank! as ofr Barton, yes, Holtby seems a decen shou tand i know nothing about chun chow chat or whatever his name is, but he could bring in huge shirt sales etc, so if he can cook a mean fried rice get him in i say.....as for arteta, we need to cash in to get him off the wage bill more than anything.

    Welcome by the way :-)

Welcome Bluedestiny - not sure your sums add up - but I'd take any changes as long as they are positive ones.

Trouble I have is that actually Yobo and the Yak are actually on their day are top perfomers - if we can get them back in the fold we could see some decent return from them.

lol thanks, I put in a short version now, as I know its a very long post. Apparently, Liverpool are considering signing Park as a back-up striker for Suarez and Carrol, and Italian side Napoli were also in negotiaons with the player. Could be good for us, and as you said, more shirt sales.

**Edit: In the very least singing Holtby and offloading Yobo and Yak or even just Arteta would a good move. It would freshen up our attack. Don't get me wrong, all three players have been great for us in the past, but I just think its time for a few changes. I've seen clips of Holtby on youtube, he looks like an excellent playmaker.

Holtby sounds like a good option. Dont know enough about Park. There have been quite a lot of players linked over the summer in the same price bracket that might be better options. I'd love it, love it, if we could get Sturridge on loan.

    Welcome by the way :)

Yes, we need something fresh in attack for me, definitely. :-)

Thanks for the welcomes lads or should I say lids? :)

True, there were plenty of options this summer, and there could very well be a better option available up front than Park, for the same price. Sturridge on loan would be great, that's if Villas-Boas is willing to part with him after his promising display this preseason.

Signing David Trezeguet on a pay as you play deal might not be a bad move either.

Whatever happens, I'd like to see us play 4-4-2. The lack of goals is really holding us back. We have a real star in the making with Ross Barkley and Fellaini was looking sharp against Villarreal (lets hope he can stay injury free). All we need is one or two new attcaking options and a top four finish could even be realistic, especially with Aresenal's recent dip in form.

I though Becks and Saha looked lively together in a 4-4-2 before Louis got injured.

    As you wish.

True, just wish we had better back up options in case Loius or Becks gets injured this season. Although, with Gueye in the squad, I'd see no reason to play 4-5-1 anymore imo. The lad can score, just needs experience.

Problem with selling players is they have to be wanted by another club to be sold, doesn't look promising on that front.
For me any one of Billy, Anichebe, Yak, Yobo, Heittinga and Rodwell are expendable for quality improvements in other areas.
I only say Rodwell and Heittinga because they are not getting much game time so won't be missed, how the replacements we could get would certainly be noticed.

From what I've read over the last few months, there has been supposed interest in all four of the players that I think should be sold (Yak, Yobo, Arteta and even Anichebe), but then again, they could be nothing more than rumours.

Found this on Yakubu: "His compatriot Yakubu has then frustratingly failed to agree terms with various teams, after Everton supposedly accepted bids."

Regarding Fenerbache's interst in Yobo; they were offering around 2.5 million quid for his signature. Yobo was keen to move, but the deal collapsed because we were pusing for at least 4 million.

There were also reports that Villarreal were offering 8 million for Arteta just last week. Then again, there might not be any truth to it, but then again, if there was, its an opportunity wasted.

For me personally, I think we should keep Heittinga and Rodwell as they are decent enough to have around on the bench as back-up, or to use against weaker teams in the F.A. and Carling cup matches. Billy might pull through for us, but still, would only have him on as a sub in the league games until he manages to impress.

But yeah, I mostly agree with you mate. I guess we just goto sit back and trust in Moyes. I just had to vent, feel better now, lol :)

You vent away, most of the supposed transfers are simply rumours though.
Thought Yobo was going, never heard about Arteta mind you so maybe my ear to the ground is quite a long way off the ground. Dissapointed with Yak staying to be honest.
As for the others, I like JH and Rodwell but I think if they left us I wouldn't notice their absence in the same way as I would notice a 20mil striker leading the line or a full on winger ripping past everyone and floating a cross or two across to Bainesy for a change.

I wouldn't sell Arteta to be honest. Say what you like about him but he's still our most creative and (when on form) influential player.
