it seems to me that artetas departure inadvertantly seems to be the catalyst for all this negativity...
what has changed so much to our club...from wednesday to date..

i'm constantly told on here the average fan has no interest in the business side of the club...so lets leave that aside for now....

we sold a player perceived, from outside the club, as our force majeur...inside the club many would say he's been poor for 18 months.......injured for most of the season/s out of form on his return....

we all knew arsenal were sniffing around jags for some time....would we have had all this same negativity if we had sold jags i keep asking myself ? i'm not sure...alternatively would it have just been the same but with a different players name attached ?

after all the hullabaloo...were basically the same team...minus arteta and beckford...we all know the arguments for beckford so wont go there..yet the press negativity seems to have virtually omitted his mention..so i have too....

if arteta hadn't gone we'd be 2 loan players up.(still minus beckford)...and we'd have all been quite appeased (my opinion)

so to summarise....whats the difference?..why all the negativity ?

poor old arteta has inadvertently gone from mainstay ...main cause !!!

arteta has been **** for 2 seasons or more, we did arsenal, he was only worth 5 mill tops.

Good business from Moyes and the board, sad to go but will be missed more off the pitch than on it.

I thought that Arteta would stay to be honest, even when I heard Arsenal wanted him I had a feeling that the deal would fall through. But as already said, better Arteta than Jags.

    Well,I could say that:

Arteta was the most skilful player we had.

That he personified the hopes and dreams of Evertonians who could argue that here was a player,as good as any in the country, playing for Everton

That, simply by having a player of such quality at our club was a statement of intent as to what we wanted to achieve

That he was a player who genuinely loved the club

Or that he,alone, was often worth the admission money

But these qualities don't count anymore apparently.

Deso, that seems so heartfelt mate! Almost brought a tear to my eye!

Deso that was entirely correct.. 2 years ago, then he got injured and has been less than average since. He needed a fresh challenge to hopefully kickstart his game again, we needed the money.. It's sad he went, but he left when he was far from one of the best midfielders in our squad, let alone the league.
I bear him no ill feeling, I am not sure anyone does, and that in itself is testimony to the lads quality. When you think he put in a transfer request just before the window closed leaving us no chance to get a replacement and no one cares or holds a grudge..
That is respect earnt on and off the pitch, to say those qualities you mentioned don't count is wrong, I think everyone still loves him but if you take the tinted glasses off you will see he has not been the same for a long time and this was best for all concerned.

"If you take the tinted glasses off"
Strange comment from someone who argues respect for differing opinions.
I posted because of the small minded, miserable comments he had been receiving on this site.
I still regard him as the most skilful Everton player of the last 30/40yrs.
I recall you as a reasonable voice on here,I don't know what's happened to change you, but, changed, you have, and I am not particularly referring to this thread.
