Farewell Mikel Arteta

Once the dust has settled, I sincerely hope that we all come to our senses and give Mikel a fantastic warm welcome when he returns to Goodison.

I personally think the guy has acted with a lot of class over the last couple of days since his departure, and whilst I would love to have seen him still be in the blue shirt, I can't be-grudge the guy a final shot at Champions Leage Football.

Ultimately I think it was the right deal for the club given the circumstances, and Arteta gave us 6 of his best years to us - so good luck mate.

I think when we look at how other recent departures have handled themselves in the process of gaining a move (Pienaar & Gosling etc), I think Arteta has at least left with dignity and respect - and left us with untarnished memories and a good chunck of money for the bank.

He will have my applause on his return.

    IF he comes back.

i suspect he is a stop gap and may struggle to find a regular place at aresenal. especially if wenger continues his spending spree in january.

He left for 10m, 10% of which went to real sociedad as a sell on clause.

then just to ruub salt in the wound, he took a pay cut to join them.

So? He took a pay cut to play champions league, we cant offer that

He's had nothing but good things to say about Everton and Evertonians since he's left, stop trying to find something to beat the club with and pull your head out of that dark cloud tickets you negative little RS

I still feel a bit off about him because we broke the wage cap for him and he never played well since.

    I don't wish Arteta luck!
    4ook that!

He put in a transfer request a couple of hours before the window shut giving us no time to get any replacement - he let us sell one of the only strikers we have coz we needed the money and didn't know this £10 Million would be coming later in the day

Above all - He plays for a club that might be very close to us on the league table this season!

    He's a rival now - 4ook him!
