The Rodwell Sale - Will It Have An Effect On....

.......The Mancs bidding on Baines? If rumours are to be believed, they've offered £12m for Baines, yet now we've sold Rodders for £15-£17m, surely that would make them think 'well Baines is better by far and a lot less injury prone, maybe it's time we got serious'.

I think it confirms that we shouldn't be looking for anything less than £20-£25m for Baines.

If we sell Baines too I am not going to any games this season. We don't NEED to sell Baines and 20m will not replace his ability and worth to the team. The banks should be content now and if Kenwrght lacks the spine to say no to bigger clubs I will be utterly disgusted.

Sadly that is true. However this season we shouldn't need to sell anyone.

What I don't understand is the fact that our debt is escalating. We at one point owed £20m to banks, but now its risen to £40m and supposedly almost £50m. We sell players and give a large chunk of it to the bank; shouldn't that reduce the debt? I seem to remember the report from Robert Earl saying that we lost about £5m each year. If that's the case then the entire board should be sacked because we're doing something horribly wrong. If they are taking even a penny out from the club at this stage then we should be calling for their heads because if they are then they are the reason the club is falling backwards.

Oh God, I feel myself slipping back into the "Kenwright out" phase again. :O

Would highly doubt that Baines or Felli go at all, and i am super excited at the prospects of more new faces, we got a good fee and we knew we had to sell someone for 15-20mil to get faces in, and Jack hasn't lived up the hype and people were getting frustrated with him so fair play, he can pack his pockets and our team can benefit as i'm sure Moyes will work some magic in the market now.

    COYB!

well i cant see felli being here in 2 years if he continues to improve, he will attract a lot of interest from top sides and not a chance in a million years he will be an everton player in 2 seasons if he is then hes gone backwards and nobody wants him

Ever heard of things like compound interest, escalating operating costs, soaring wage bills ? People on here scream blue murder that we don't pay higher wages to attract and retain the best players then when we do secure a player on a long term contract with competitive wages they scream that the board are driving the debt higher.

Been waiting for you to have a go again, nice while the peace lasted. I'll tell you this, you're right, I don't but the figure that seems to be floating about is the £15m mark. I've even seen £12m with £5m in add-ons, which is how I've come to the figures of £15m-£17m, so call it an educated guess, or am I once again ill-educated?

No need for the rhetoric Andy, a simple "you are right I don't know" would have sufficed.

No, I felt that I should explain where I got the figure from, to show that it wasn't just plucked from the air.

Your figure was based on pure rumour, gossip, speculation i.e plucked from thin air.

And not only this, but, Greg O'Keefe has confirmed that he knows the figure, has tweeted that it's £12m with add-ons. Maybe not quite the £5m add-ons I'd seen, but I did say £15-£17m to cover myself.
