While earlier I did say this piece is not necessarily about replacing players currently at a club, that is more to do with players who may or may not be sold. In Everton's case, they could do with replacing a man who is already there, on the basis that he frankly isn't much good anymore. Tim Cahill is perhaps a unique player in that he was an excellent midfielder who did little other than score goals, and I use the past tense there deliberately. The problem is that when you stop scoring goals, your usefulness is at best diluted, and since he scored just twice last season, a new attacking midfielder/support forward is needed at Goodison Park.

So who? A number of names have been mentioned as we discussed this quandary, many of them dismissed on the basis of Everton's limited budget. 'Stephen Ireland if he was any good' was one, James McCarthy of Wigan, even someone like Andy King of Leicester. We talked it over for a while. However, one name stood out, which slightly surprised us - Yossi Benayoun. Think about it - he could play in any of the three attacking positions behind Nikica Jelavic, can score the odd goal, wouldn't stop running and although his wages would be reasonably high, would not command much of a transfer fee as Chelsea try to make locker space for their new, shinier baubles. Think about it - not quite as silly as it initially seems.

WHO THEY SHOULD BUY: Yossi Benayoun.

There's the Blueroom, then there's real life. http://www.evertonfc.com/forum/discussion/9613/theres-the-blueroom-then-theres-real-life. Fri, 20 Jul 2012 15:52:31 +0100 sambo applecart 9613@/forum/discussions
I think, in general, bar the odd bit of barracking, and yeah maybe some times the banter does go a little far, most people on here get on to a certain degree. Personally i think that is a good thing, because on the internet, there is no where to hide so to speak. We come on here to discuss most things 'Everton'. As you get to know people and their little ways, what they do for a living perhaps, or there family life, it gives you other things to talk about with people, which surely can only be for the good of the forum??

The problem with that however is you are in a little 'clique' apparently. You gang up on others and round on people who's opinion you don't agree with. Personally i do not think this is the case, nor has it anything to do with 'education'. If you don't agree with some one, you don't agree with them, it has NOTHING at all to do with bullying, that is just bullsh1t. If i have a conversation with you down the pub and i don't agree with what you say, does that make me a bully? I'm ont so sure it does. If i'm having a pint with 5 of you, and 4 of us disagree with what one person says, does that make all of us bullies? I don't think it does.

If on the internet you don't get it, why use it? I get the impression at times on here that people just do not understand what is going on cos they do not understand how the internet works. COS ITS IN BLACK AND WHITE AND YOU ARE READING IT, THERE IS NO EMOTION, SO IT CAN BE TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT. If you have got to know people on here, you take it with a pinch of salt, i've siad it before and i'll say it again, IF you take the time to get to know people on here, instead of judging after making 50 posts and thinking everyone on here must be a BULLY etc, take the time to get to know everyone instead of being so judgemental. If people are that judgemental in real life, that they are on here, they cant have a lot going in in their lives and nor can they have lived much to have this sort of attitude.

I personally do not think anyone on here is overly difficult, some look for a bite, and when they get it, they just keep at it for a bit of banter, if the other person bites and does not get it, just turn the computer off and walk away, its not too hard is it? If somebody was winding you up in reality this way, what would you do? You would most likely take a breath and walk away, or not get involved with it, its no different on the internet, nor is it difficult to do.

The end.

GB: Steele (Middlesborough), Bertrand (Chelsea), Richards (Man City) , Tomkins (Wham), Taylor (Swansea), Cleverley (Manure), Allen (Swansea) , Giggs (Manure), Rose (Spuds), Bellamy ($hite), Sturridge (Chelsea). Subs: Butland (Brum), Caulker (Spuds), Dawson (WBA), Cork (Saints), Ramsey (Arsenal), Sinclair (Swansea), Sordell (Notlob).

Brazil: Rafael (Santos), Da Silva (Manure), Thiago Silva (Milan), Juan (Inter), Marcelo (Real Madrid), Sandro (Spuds), Romulo (Vasco de Gama), Oscar (Internacional/Chelsea), Hulk (Porto), Neymar (Santos), Leandro Damiao (Internacional). Subs: Neto (Fiorentina) , Lucas (Sao Paolo), Bruno Uvini (Sao Paulo), Danilo (Porto), Alex Sandro (Porto), Ganso (Santos), Alexandre Pato (Milan).

That Brazil have Pato and Ganso only on the bench is an alarming warning for the Brits, and with Brazil having never won the Olympic football, and their big rivals Argentina having done so, the South Americans are taking this tournament very seriously indeed.

The atmosphere subdued, either from confusion  at not being able to chant "En-ger-land" or possibly due to apathy about the olympics.

All the early movement came from Neymar and Damiao leading the line for Brazil, GB are reduced to long range efforts and the difference in first touches is very noticeable. Where team GB would hope to excel is defensive solidity, but early on this seems fragile, Tomkins and Richards both lose Neymar from a long punt up field and he should have finished a very English goal, but blazes the ball wide.

Brazil have all the attacking guile it seems, and threaten to cut open the less fleet footed British a number of times.  The goal though, when it inevitably comes, is far from Samba football.  A niggly foul resulted in the magnificently bemulleted Neymar floating in a free kick that was missed by the whole GB defence and a header from Spurs' own Sandro looped back over Steele in goal.

GB rely solely on grit, getting in the way and pushing people over, in the grand tradition of Scotty Parker.  They are also giving them too much time on the ball, see above.  The only attacks come from set plays, and Richards steers a free header well wide from a Giggs corner.

Neymar's dazzling feet and propensity to fall over like a bit of a wuss had cranked up the atmosphere a notch, he was getting booed and slow clapped, shortly before calmy placing a penalty right into the corner of Steele's goal.  The kick came after a clumsy foul by Richards on Hulk.

After half time, Steele in goal had been replaced by Butland, the anonymous Sturridge replaced by his predecessor Sinclair, Cork on for Tomkins and Caulker replaced Bertrand.

The second half started and the first end, swarms of yellow attacks, yet to mix metaphors, these waves this time broke upon the impressive Butland.  Saving low from Oscar, high from Damiao, it seems to be a matter of time.  The speed of movement from the Brazilians is admirable, and the reluctant Brits are sticking to their rigid formation hoping to crowd them out, and failing.

Eventually the British go on the attack, Danny Rose shows some good footwork to leave Da Silva on his bum before whipping over a cross just too high for the incoming Giggs.

The outgoing Giggs was replaced by Aaron Ramsey,  and Bellamy, whose only contribution was to Andy Johnson the ball at the keeper when offside, is replaced by Marvin Sordell.

Team GB are now reduced to that most English of football heroics, last gasp blocks and tackles.  The immense Hulk slipped Neymar through and his weaving gave him a clear sight on goal before his shot was blocked by the flying Taylor.

Up the other end Ramsey is trying to play like the Brazilians, but his team mates are on a different wavelength.

The depth of Brazil's squad is demonstrated when they bring on Pato, Lucas and Ganso into the fray and the game carries on as before, the Plucky Brave Brits against the gifted Brazil, and you get the impression that if they needed to, they could score 5, but Butland denies Neymar on a number of occasions, while the territory is conceded to the edge of the GB area.

Not before time the referee calls the game to a close before someone gets badly hurt.

Euro 2012 Blueroom Fantasy Football League http://www.evertonfc.com/forum/discussion/8129/euro-2012-blueroom-fantasy-football-league Fri, 25 May 2012 12:17:25 +0100 Beano 8129@/forum/discussions I've created a league in Fantasy Football called Blueroom Euro2012 League.

Similarly to Fantasy Premier League, you get €100 Million to spend on your squad of 15 but you get a lot more free transfers to replace players as their country get knocked out of the tournament!

Joining the league couldn't be easier. Simply use this link and you'll be added automatically after you've entered the game:

http://en.euro2012fantasy.uefa.com/my-leagues/29745/join/?autojoin-code=126810-29745.

You shouldn't need the league code, but just in case here it is: 126810-29745.

Mods: Can you please sticky this.

I'm not sure if a prize can be organized for the overall winner. If not, it'll be just for the pride of the Blueroom!

May the best Beano....I mean player...win!
