5 players around the box and a striker in the middle could work well. I'd like to see it but I think that would only work if we drop Cahill and there's always a possibility that leaves our defense short incase of a counter attack but I have faith in our back 4 for that to work
My Views on each individual Everton player yesterday http://www.evertonfc.com/forum/discussion/5313/my-views-on-each-individual-everton-player-yesterday Sun, 19 Feb 2012 22:22:07 +0000 jaybeck 5313@/forum/discussions
Baines - Same old consistancy from Leighton. Had a good game defending but didn't attack as well as he did with Pienaar
Heintinga - Absolutely solid at the back. good to see him showing his class
Distin - Without question a first choice centre back, great player
Hibbert - I can't explain how much I dislike Hibbert. He's always 5 yards off his man and is always backing off not making a challenge. He always passes back when attacking and is confronted by a defender completely cutting off any attacking momentum we have at that point.

Neville - He played ok but he's past his and I would rather see a young lad to play ahead of him
Gibson - Im 50/50 whether I like him or not, but for 500 grand I don't expect a world beater so hopefully he'll get match fit and his football brain kicks in
Fellaini - Really has been on top form recently and hoping he continues to keep at such a standard
Drenthe - Had a good game but will probably struggle to get on the team with Pienaar on the left and Seamus coming back from injury. People may say play Drenthe ahead of Seamus but I don't know
Gueye - I thought he played well yesterday, probably his best performance in a blue shirt. He made a great ball to begin our first goal

Stracqualursi - I'm absolutely loving Stracq at the moment. he has been a top class player with the attitude he's shown and is throughly deserving his goals at the minute. Great poachers instinct for the goal too

Our man Stracqualursi is starting to hit a few home and we are struggling to come up with a song!

Stracqualursi fits perfectly to the tune of "in the navy" by the village people.

Stracqualursi. He lives across the Atlantic sea.

Stracqualursi. We're waiting for him to get three.

Stracqualursi. Stracqualursi.

holloway praises everton http://www.evertonfc.com/forum/discussion/5298/holloway-praises-everton Sun, 19 Feb 2012 11:50:16 +0000 2dogs 5298@/forum/discussions

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway heaped praise on Everton Football Club after his side were knocked out of the FA Cup at Goodison - and then admitted he hoped the Blues would go on and win the competition.

The Seasiders were 2-0 down after just six minutes of the fifth round tie, leaving Holloway in admiration of how his counterpart David Moyes organised his Toffee troops.

"Our players have seen the level they need to be at with and without the ball," said the former Leicester and QPR boss. "Nobody’s team shows that better than Dave’s.

"Their hunger, their desire; they ran like they mean it and they tackle like they mean it.

"Their wide lefty, Drenthe, was fantastic."

Holloway then turned his praise to the Club and lauded Moyes further.

"I’d like to say that I think this football club is one of the best around," said Holloway. "It’s a proper football club.

"Everyone you bump into on the stairs on the way up are so respectful. They speak to you, they shake your hand and they’re so respectful.

"It was a bad day for us but a good day for Everton. Wouldn’t it be nice if Dave were to win something because he deserves it.

"Hopefully one day people will say nice things about us but the way Dave conducts himself and looks after his players, he’s a credit to football."

>>I have a friend who is very close to Landon Donovan from a working perspective and below is what he wrote when I asked him about LD staying longer with Everton:

"The price has to be right and he has to want to stay versus having a month off. It's been great for his career. I am guessing that Everton paid L.A. Galaxy/MLS what they could afford for this amount of games so while we would all want him to stay, it most likely won't happen. But as they say, 'it ain't over till the fat lady sings.' " <<
For the record, the season starts for Los Angeles on March 7. They are in pre-season now.

Its surprising what a couple of new signings and good results can do, because it wasn't too long ago that us fans struggled to decide who will be the best of a bad bunch up front, and now we have Denis and Jelavic who both offer something different. And don't forget that Vellios and Victor have both made impacts this season when they have came on from the bench. Do you agree that the players mentioned will struggle to get a place in the team when they return?

moyes has made some very good additions with little to no money and should start thinking early about what will be possible next season. I'd love to see pienaar and drenthe stay. Straq is making me laugh but I can't help salute his attitude. Even moyes talks tongue in cheek when talking about his ability.

Keep the attack minded tactics and I'll be happy.
