David Unsworth intends to give Tyias Browning more minutes when Everton’s youngsters play Blackpool in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday evening.
The defender made his return to action for the Under-23s against Norwich City last Friday - his first match in over a year due to a long-term knee injury.
The 22-year-old played the first half before being replaced at the interval.
Unsworth said Browning’s appearance was a big step forward in his journey back to full match fitness.
“I thought Tyias got better as the game went along,” Unsworth told evertontv. “He said at half-time that he thought he could have carried on but the plan was always to give him 45 minutes. Hopefully we will give him a few more minutes Tuesday night as well.
“He’s been out for so long and has worked so tirelessly in the gym with all the physios and fitness coaches. People don’t see how hard he has worked and it was fantastic to see him back.”
Victory for Everton against Blackpool on Tuesday will be enough to see the Club progress through to the knockout stages of the Checkatrade Trophy.
Tickets for the match are now available
, priced at £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.
The Sir Phillip Carter Park End stand will only be open for this game, with cash turnstiles also in operation on the evening.
