Hello from Austria!
I can’t believe it’s the weekend already and the first game of pre-season is tomorrow.
For me, it doesn’t feel that long since the Chelsea game at the end of last season. The time in between went really quickly because I was on my holidays, with my family and friends, and that time always goes really fast.
But I’m obviously excited for the game tomorrow and excited that a new season is beginning.
I’m 21 now and I feel stronger at the start of this season than any other year I’ve been here and I will try to make this a good season for me.
We have a lot of new faces in the team and also in the backroom and we’re trying every day to do our best and to prepare to have an even better season than the last one.
We did really well in 2012/13 but we all want 2013/14 to be even better. Because, honestly, we deserved more last season.
My favourite moment of last year was setting up Nikica’s goal against Tottenham. I like to do crazy stuff in the area to confuse the opposition and after trying that overhead kick all I heard was the crowd go wild. I didn’t know what had happened but then I turned around and saw Nikica running off celebrating and I was so happy for the team.
To win that game like that was fantastic. Injury time is always the best time to win a game and the atmosphere in the dressing room afterwards was amazing.
On Friday, we had another spinning session and did some gym work early in the morning but then the manager let us have the morning off. Everybody went to a spa and we had a massage and a swim and it was a nice way to relax.
Our training session was in the evening and again lots of people came out to watch so thank you if you were there!
I went to bed after dinner last night and watched a movie – it was a Greek one though so I doubt you’d know it. It was a good film and I was happy to chill out for a bit before sleeping.
Now we just have to make our final preparations for the game and then we can look forward to getting to the stadium tomorrow. I can't wait.
