View articlesThere's always a sense of anticipation when new players come to the Club and I was pleased to get a glimpse of one of our new boys at the weekend .
Royston is a quality footballer and everybody knew of him before his time at Real Madrid. He may have lost his way there a little bit, I don't know the situation. Now he needs to adapt and get himself fit for the pace of the Premier League.
He had a cameo appearance against Villa at the weekend and did okay but I think he will be the first to tell you he needs to get up to the pace of the Premier League.
You could see he was quick and tricky from his few minutes at the weekend. He has got skill on the ball, tonnes of ability and that is not in doubt.
He has got the desire but he hasn't played a lot of first team games and we may need to give him time to get into match shape.
He played for the reserves last night and got a goal and that will be good for him.
I have to admit I didn't know much about Denis before he arrived here.
Tevez and Aguero spring to mind when you talk about Argentinians and a lot of people hadn't heard of our new acquisition. I certainly hadn't either!
But there is an opportunity for him and he has to fight to get into the starting XI. If he shows the right attitude and desire to work hard then we will have to wait and see. He is a big lad who has scored goals and fingers crossed we will see the best of him.
There have been a few changes to David Moyes' first team squad in the last few days and the Fans Forum , of which I am chairman, is set to follow suit with a new group of supporters joining later this month.
A search for new members was launched on the website in August and fans have been sending their applications through evertonfc.com.
At this week's meeting existing members will choose which of the applicants will line up on the new look forum. A lot of Blues seem to be talking about the forum - if anyone reading this is interested in finding out more then click here.
After that I'll be turning my attentions to another home game and hopefully three points.
We didn't do an awful lot wrong against Aston Villa on Saturday so I'd like to see more of the same.
We could have been a little stronger against balls into the box but this week it is a different threat.
Villa had three pacy players up front and Wigan don't necessarily have that, but we need to set our stall out and worry about ourselves. If we set out with a high tempo, put Wigan on the back foot and get an early goal, that will help. If we can do that then hopefully we can get the three points.
I look forward to seeing you at Goodison on Saturday.
