Due to the international break and the troublesome weather, only one of Everton's three players out on loan played last week.
And it was another significant 90 minutes for midfielder John Lundstram, as he shook off a leg injury to help Doncaster to a 3-2 win at Scunthorpe on Saturday.
It was a fierce derby in League One, and in edging the five-goal thriller, Rovers extended their lead at the top to five points.
Lundstram had withdrawn from the England Under-19s squad earlier in the week - soon after agreeing to stay at the Keepmoat Stadium until the end of the season - but he proved his fitness to aid his loan side to victory against their struggling North Lincolnshire rivals.
Magaye Gueye missed out on a weekend of action, however, with Stade Brestois and the rest of Ligue 1 on hold during the latest World Cup qualifying matches.
There was to be no action for Jake Bidwell and Brentford in League One either, as Bramall Lane and hosts Sheffield United fell victim to heavy snowfall.
The Bees are currently joint-second in the table, fourth on goal difference, but have played a game less than Lundstram's table-topping Rovers.
